Clean Under There
Anyone take off there wheels and clean under there? I'm going to do this due to the fact that I was spraying a wheel cleaner and got some on the plastic wheel well and bam! it was looking clean. So when I get my car back from the shop I'll wash her wax her clean under there and get some good digi pic's with my boys camara. Man listen to me. I miss my 8 :sadwavey:

Only what I can reach without taking my wheel off. Its impossible to keep it clean under there.

Yep - I have a special dirty towel I use to clean the wheel well with, but I leave the wheel on also. Once a month I take the wheels off and really clean them up and give them a coat of wax also.
It's a clean machine |
A coat of wax under the wheels? On what? Isn't the wheel well liner plastic?

Nemesis8, Its good to know I'm not alone lol

I rotate the tires every 3-4000 miles and while the wheels are off I thoroughly clean the back side of the wheels. Then I pressure clean the wheel wells. That carpeting in the wheel wells probably takes about a week to dry.

I don't have my 8 yet, so this is probably a stupid question- but do you mean like artificial turf or something like that? :wtf:

It is a nylon mat. It dries really quickly as it has a hard plastic backing layer and doesn't saturate.
I take my wheels off and clean the chassis once a month. This includes all suspension components and the under-body. |
Whats the purpose? to protect from corrosion?

With 66 miles on my odometer, I am noticing some grim on my rims and also on the inside of the rim. I would imagine this is just going to get worse. Any tips to clean, besides removing the tire?

Actually, while you have the wheels off it is a good time to give them a good cleaning and put a solid coat of wax on them. This helps cleaning brake dust and road grime from the wheels.
