Check Engine Light! Nooooo!

So I was just driving down the street at around 30 mph and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on. It has not gone away after turning the car off. The saddest part is my car has only 6,500 miles on it.

It's a 2007 AT RX-8. This is very sad and scary...

Have you gotten gas lately? It could be just you gas cap is not on tight. But there is no way to tell what is wrong without knowing what code it is. I believe auto zone will check you CEL for free.

I got gas on Sunday. I tried to call some dealerships but they all seem to be closed, guess they all will be in Chicago at this time. I guess I have to wait until tomorrow.

And Autozone was closed too :uhh:

? Not sure about this ?
But I don't think that the CEL will be recorded if the engine light only flashes.
I think you need a solid Engine CEL before you can read the code......

Pending codes (misfires usually and pretty much harmless) can/will be stored and you may not even see a CEL

It's not the gas cap. '07 with 6500 miles...you might still be under the B-B warranty, just depending on when you bought it. If that was Oct 07 when you joined this site, you're covered. Once a dealer opens, of course.

unless the misfires add up then they generate a CEL
