Check engine light!

Hey guys, need your help once again. So as of now, the cars been doing great. Changed the plugs last weekend and ran even better. About to do a bunch of maintenance this week to get him running like new. So my problem is... just today he started blinking the check engine light; however, it went away after a few short blinks. Then, later after work around 10pm during a 10 mile trip back home the light comes on again but stays lit this time. As far as I know, I can't tell what could be wrong from inspecting the engine so I was hoping if you guys had any advice or suggestions or should I stop being lazy and pick up some OBD software and see whats up. Everything helps so just point me in the right direction and I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot guys

Most likely your best bet is just to go get the code read.. If I recall there's a few places that do it for free.

Yes... take it to Autozone and get the DTC code read and post what it is.

I guess I'll be nice... the blinking CEL you got are most likely due to misfires. Now, go and Google RX8+Misfires.

I'd just think like the Penguins in the Madagascar movies and break the light or put duct tape over it, problem solved.

Ya, I like the penguins solution lol but I'll take off the tire and get in there to check if I put the ignition wires on tight too. I think I'm going to go and pick up OBD CAN scan software too from OBDCOM.com just so I have it for all my cars for future reference. Also, while I have your attention... do you guys recommend the OEM ignition wires or could I just pick up some performance ones at my local shop? same goes for ignition coils? Thanks guys!

OEM is fine but if you go aftermarket, don't just pick up any random "performance" wires, some, if not most, are not suitable for the 8.

Don't use NGK plug wires. NGK spark plugs are fine though.
