cargo net and cargo tray questions
 

Can anyone with the cargo net tell me if it attaches to the sides of the trunk so that you kind of trap stuff between the net and the back of the trunk?

And can someone with the cargo tray tell me if it molded to fit the entire trunk or just a portion of the trunk? Also, if I have the spare tire will the cargo tray fit?

The cargo net is kind of like a vertical mesh file folder along the back of the trunk. Works great for small light stuff.

It attaches at all four corners and pulls tight, so yeah you can trap stuff up against the rear of the trunk.

It fits in the lower sump area of the trunk, where it is recessed.

Just got the cargo tray and net. Yes, the tray does cover the entire trunk. So, you must remove the repair kit and loosen the spare tire if you have it to get the tray installed. However, the increased thickness of the tray makes it impossible to replace the tire repair kit back into place and to strap it in. Still working on this one.

The cargo net is a bitch unless you read the other threads here which are far superior to the "instructions" provided with the net.

Microbe....why the issue with fastening in the tire repair kit? I bought my tray about 2 months ago and didn't seem to have an issue strapping back in....just curious.

As a side note, my tray works great and is form fitted to the trunk tighter than I expected...which is great because it looks like it is meant to be there from the beginning. It was a much needed piece after I got the car, because in the 2 months before I got the tray I spilled oil and water in the trunk on seperate occasions and had a hell of a time cleaning it out (especially the oil).

It is cold here today making the tray very stiff and I suspect that in time it will fit better.

Good question on the cargo trays. I had the same question based on these two items both being called cargo trays and the pics so different.

Thanks for the links but now I'm pissed. My dealer said he'd give me accessories at cost. I looked at the price list at Trusvill Mazda and the All-Season floor mats say RETAIL $70.00 My dealer is charging me $70.00 saying that is their cost which is total BS then. According to Edmunds the invoice cost is $45 and MSRP on the mats is $60. So they're giving me the super duper deal for $70 :mad:

Those guys sat me down for 10 minutes explaining to me how very important is was that I gave them all 10s on the survey Mazda Motors of America would mail to me. Then 3 days after I bought the car someone else from the dealer called me again to remind me how important it was that I have them all 10s. Then today I received another reminder in the mail that I need to give time all 10s on the survey.

These morons better fess up or I'll ding them all zeros on the survery for lying to me.

You oughta clue the dealership dudes into the RX8 Club.com forum, which could have a much bigger effect on sales than the internal dealer survey.

WOOT!! Argued with the sales guy this morning and told him Trussville Mazda and Rosenthal Mazda both sell the All-Weather Floor Mats for under $60 so the dealer cost couldn't possibly be the $70 they are charging me. The salesman finally caved in and said he'd give them to me for FREE...he actually said he'd pay for them himself and give them to me. He made enough money off of me on the car so I don't feel bad at all haggling with him over floor mats.

Yeah, right, like he's really paying for them himself- I guess that was to try and make you feel guilty. Glad you got them for free though!

Yeah, gotta agree w/ the lady on this one. Personally, I have a difficult time feeling any compassion for anyone at a dealership. The bottom line is that they're a business; and provided I leave with what I want (or possibly even a better deal), then I could care less about them feeling badly about things. I'm disinclined to feel guilty about any purported "loss" that they're going to have as a result of what they agree to because in the end run the overall deal will still have earned them money.

Oh, and don't forget to be honest about the whole thing on the survey. Calling you and encouraging you to mark all 10's on there doesn't necessarily make the transaction a 10. Remember - if they had wanted all 10's, then the entire time they dealt with you needs to have been a "10" experience. The only way dealerships and customer service improve is if we force them to improve.

I am trying to buy my new RX-8, still having problems in what i want on it and what i don 't need to spend...Like the Navigator i don't think is needed.,I went to the dealer and one with Leather, 6 speed, moonrof, and chome 18" Wheels, for 32,800. still don't know what the tt&l will be, sure will like some advice in what you guys are regreating of taking that now you realize was not a good choice...Thanks
