Carfax on Buy-backs
Will the buy-back cars have a mark on a carfax report? I know if the dealer buys back a car for a problem (like in a lemon law) it shows as a "Dealer buy-back" (or something like that) on the Carfax and other VIN reports.
I wonder how this will affect the resale value of the used (bought back) cars? Thoughts? |
From what I understand (this is NOT from my conversation with MNAO, mind you), the turned in RX-8s will be branded as "buy-back" cars... just like cars that mfrs. buy back under lemon laws. It usually means that the car's resale value is reduced; it also probably means that Mazda will not be allowed to offer these cars for sale as used cars to the general public. It's possible they could be sold at auction as long as the "buy-back car" status is disclosed.
The MNAO rep did tell me that the turned-in RXs will be offered to Mazda employees, presumably at fire-sale prices. His words to me were, "Your car could become my car." He actually sounded somewhat excited about this. I guess I would be too, in his shoes. |
buy backs will not be sold to the public
as not to add any use lower priced cars in the mix, ...
only mazda workers can buy them... just like that other little car mazda had the same deal with a while back.... |
Yep, employees were able to buy the Miata at a great price, or lease them as company vehicles.
