Acclaim99 05-01-2006 12:26 AM

Lol, my 05 would do it to me all the time, 06 hasn't yet...

NgoRX8 05-01-2006 12:28 AM

you're rubbing the steering wheel (or the shifter) too much. lol.

yiksing 05-01-2006 12:37 AM

Get some static strap

prescriptionmazda 05-01-2006 12:48 AM

cloth seats have a tendency to do that.

Hang a ground strap under the car to bleed off the charge.

Velocity Red RX-8 05-01-2006 06:31 AM

Ericok 05-01-2006 06:58 AM

Stop wearing nylon underwear.

BunnyGirl 05-01-2006 09:49 AM

My 06 has never shocked me but everything else always seems to, especially my work station. I touched the wall divider, it shocked me, and and then when I reached for something on the deck as my arm was reaching over a small desk fan, the fan turned itself on.

My headphones shock me. My keyboard shocks me. My mouse shocks me. The door shocks me.

My car is nice to me. :)

I'm the same way. And my cloth 05 shocks me too. not as bad as some cars though. I've been shocked 5 times in the leg in quick succession getting out of a coworker's Pilot. Then I got shocked when I went to shut the door. And again when I grabbed the building's door handle. And again when I brushed against my cube walls (cloth covered, mind you) as I was about to sit down.

During the winter months I get shocked probably 20 or so times a day. It gets so bad I have to make sure I've touched something metal recently when I go to kiss my wife. I've even been shocked through my leather jacket. I'm just glad I had the padding that time, that one really would have hurt.

Sheep 05-01-2006 11:02 AM

go get one of those anti shock strip that's hang from the rear to the ground from an auto store or something. It should help.

BunnyGirl 05-01-2006 11:26 AM

From my rear or the car's????

Cool-Blue-Dad 05-01-2006 12:47 PM

It's spring - time to put all the fuzzy sweaters away for a few months.

BunnyGirl - I can't believe you get shocked all the time in Portland. When I lived there the ambient humidity damped down our ability to build up a decent static charge. I worked in an electronics lab so we had ESD testers and meters to back up our ancedotal evidence of the lack of static charge. Of course, from there I moved to Revo, NV and rediscovered the joys of a mighty static shock.

Seriously, I don't think my `04 with cloth seats has shocked me often and certainly not badly. Not as bad nearly as many other cars I've driven in upstate NY.

BunnyGirl 05-01-2006 01:03 PM

I didn't notice it so much until I actually started leaving the house more often.

Its some of the car's mojo transfering over to you :) (yeh Baby!)

Captain Amazing 05-01-2006 02:04 PM

haha, ya maybe I should get one of those shock strip things because I am getting all paranoid from the shocking. Scary stuff!
