our graco worked just fine. haven't tried the britex or recaro and don't have pics though. for a minute there i thought i had put the britex in but remembered it was a different graco that was rear-facing.

Do you need a carseat or a booster seat? No seats I have found really fit in the deep well of the rear seats except for two at ToysRUs that have a very narrow bottom base.

My wife bought an Eddie Bauer that matches my red, gray and black interior. It has a fairly narrow base and fits good. I think she got it at Babies R Us.

We have a cool one called Triple Play - it converts to a stroller as well, and also can be used on airplanes. It fits nicely in the back of my RX-8.

I have this pic of our seat in the back of my old 944S2...yup it'll fit in the 8...it is a Century model convertable from 5-point (under 40 lbs I think) to use with the real seatbelts...it is at least 4 years old now, though.

I'll have to check the brand on mine, I think its a Graco, it has the twistie things near the front to crank the kids tight. Easy to install rear-facing but a bitch to install forward facing as there isn't much slack in the LATCH belt. It's in there now and I'm not taking it out until my daughter is in a booster.

frank--

one thing you might want to keep in mind if you're looking at buying one that will fit in the 8 is to look for one that is airline approved. i am pretty sure the difference with those that are approved is that they are slightly narrower to fit in the airline seats which is also the challenge in the backseat of the 8.

Britax Marathon fits just fine. I've heard the Boulevard does too, but haven't tried it.

Do you know what kind it is? I have a Britax for the truck but rarely put the baby in the 8 so I don't feel like spending 200-300 for another carseat.

Here is a pic of my kids in forward facing seats.

It is made by Cosco. I believe we bought it at ToysRus

Funny that you think of that. I got a blue Cosco booster for the youngest (the little witch in my myspace pics) so it would match my RX-8. It was a nice fit.

Then my wife wanted to trade because the toddler would undo the latch on the Fisher Price carseat in her car. The toddler wouldn't try any such stunt with me in the car (I am also the Authoritative-Blue-Dad) so now I carry the black Fisher Price car seat which matches the cloth interior.

frankcastle123, for your sake you might want to look at narrower boosters because a wider carseat crowds up against the center console and makes it tough for you to get your fingers in there to buckle the seat-belt. I'd also recommend that you go buy two large bath towels which match your interior. Fold one in half so it's long and narrow and drape that from the head-rest down. Fold the second in half so it's nearly square and put that in the seat. A big enough towel will protect the back of the cushion from the rear of the carseat and protect the front of the cushion from dangling shoes.

Wal-Mart also sells a seat-back protector - basically an apron you put on the back of your front seat to protect from little feet. The toddler griped about it being there the first day, but I applied a little more authoritae and she saw it my way.

....and dude, with a name like frankcastle, well, I'm glad you still need the car-seat. :hahano:

BTW, the recaro fits like a glove. i'll post pics tonight from my camera phone if i can remember.

Great advice. Also, if your kid spills a whole thing of chocolate milk the towels come in handy...

Note to self...cupholders are round...buy round beverages...

I'm sure it is. I just haven't "solved" it yet. :naughty:

a couple pics of the recaro in the 8.

delhi 01-23-2007 01:25 PM

how about an infant seat? I believe they are supposed to be rearward facing and placed on the centre. Since the 8 has no centre seating area how does that work?

center is ideal because it is being cushioned from an impact on any side. when there isn't a middle or it isn't feasible because you have more than one carseat, you can put it in a side seat. i had a rear facing infant graco seat in the 8 with no problems.
