Car problems already.....

Recently, I purchased an 04' used Rx8. 17k miles. BTW, I bought it on the 18th of this month.

I got a great deal, Went to school with it and everybody went crazy because I got this car. So I head off the work in NYC on saturday morning leaving the keys to my father incase he needed the car or felt like he wanted a joy ride.

He went to pathmark, He's fully aware about the engine flooding and never turn it off when the engine is cold, and he even waits 5-10 minutes to let the car warm up. So now he's driving and he goes into pathmark. Comes out, puts the key in the ignition and click. Bothing happens. He pressed the clutch down all the way and turned the key and click. Then he tries again and it started then immediatly dies. He lets it rest for about 15 minutes then tries again. CLICK. Calls me and asks if he's doing anything wrong, I say no stop trying and call road side assistance. I was so devasted my new car not even 2 weeks old isn't starting. The tow truck came and he tried once again and boom it started. Scheduled and appointment with service on wensday, when i'm also going to pick up my plates.

Any ideas on what happened?

(sorry if repost)

I believe that's a layer 8 problem... :D

No, sounds like something loose electrically. I've had weird stuff like that happen on other cars just because the cable were coroding. Being up north through winter it could very well be that.

Cars are usually sold for a reason. You have no idea what the previous owner did to the car. Maybe he used to take it all apart and put it back together in his free time. Like zoom said, chill out. Until you own it for a while there are bound to be some surprises.

BTW, there are thousands of cars flooded from the hurricanes that are all getting their titles laundered up north where people aren't thinking about the floods anymore. Did you carfax and ask your insurance company to check it out?

Yea I carfaxed it ofcourse, and it was clean. In NJ, I'm pretty safe from floods and such I put the cover on when it rains.

If it's clicking but not turnign over it sounds like a battery issue. Either poor connection or bad battery.

could also be a dead spot in the starter
