car going to mazda tomorrow

my car was squeeking so i looked and there was this part that was hitting the belts. it comes off of my intake , the air sensor, and goes to this little contraption that looks like a BOV (i know its not) and then off to never never land. well there is also a latch on it, i dunno where it goes, and the BOV looking thing has a big ol crack in it and another part of the wire hooked to it has a piece that looks broken as well.

so imma take off my intake, put my old one back on, and take it to mazda.. lol.. anyone know that that thing is?

can you post a picture?

did your intake cause problem

DoobyWho 10-16-2003 09:31 AM

Yes , i will post a picture as soon as I get home from work and take one.

I think the issue was the intake I bought from thunder did not have the proper clamps on the back of the shield to hold the wires and BOV looking contraption.

wait wait wait. you or or some friend of yours' or some mechanic person for you put on an after market intake. either the installation of said intake was poor or the intake just wasn't made with the rx-8 in mind. it caused a loud squeaking noise because of the belt rubbing against things. so now instead of going to the person or persons that caused the problem, you are going to take off this intake, put the original, that didn't cause any problems, back on and take it to a mazda service person and ask them to fix something? which they won't be able to dianose properly because the thing that caused the problem won't be there. have i got that right? how do you expect to explain to them the squeaking noise when it doesn't happen in front of them. especially since they won't see any place that things could be rubbing.

Oh dear- please don't make Mazda pay for your screw-up, if what zoom says is right! Didn't you hear about that guy with the wrx that he blew up because of his aftermarket stuff, and who is now in deep doo-doo because the dealership found out that he took out the mods that caused the problem to begin with and tried to get the warranty to cover it?
