Canadian pricing??
Someone? Anyone? It's too early out here in BC to call any dealerships--could somebody out East do it and report back to the board?
If Mazda's pricing/exchange ratio remains the same (as on other Mazda's), it appears as though the 6-speed car could come in around $33K. It sounds WAY TO GOOD to be true. I wonder if Mazda will crank up the pricing just for the RX-8? |
It DOES seem to good to be true, almost enough to change my mind about getting a Mazdaspeed Protege.
Damn Mazda for making it difficult to choose between two awesome cars. :) |
Hehehe, when I saw the topic I specifically thought of Grimace and thought "uh oh, I think this made his decision a little more difficult" :D

I was trying to "guesstimate" the cost of the 26K 6 speed myself. When I bought my AcuraRSX-TypeS, the US price was 24K, and the CDN price 32K. So, if the RX-8 is 26K US, I figure that the CDN price would be in and around 34K. Although, I really hope that I highballed it. ;)

34K Cdn would be great
... yeah Grimace, I hear ya. When I read the rumoured $40K starting point from your 'World of Wheels' article, the Acura TSX (34-35K) started sounding like my next bet. Not RWD, but loaded and still sporty. I've set a self-imposed limit of $40K out the door (taxes and all) and it would be cool if that could be met, even if I have to wait for the initial demand to die down. My current Protege ES was meant to bridge my FD to the new RX-8 and it would be nice for my plans to stay with Mazda.
I'd still like to see 30+ MPG highway numbers, especially with a 6 speed tranny where the an overdrive could be used. I'm going to give a ring around today to see what the dealers in Ottawa know. |
