Can I absolutely demand that my dealership remove their dealer rear decal.........???

....when I take it in for my first maintanaince.....or are they gonna give me some song and dance??

tiggerlee 05-26-2006 11:31 PM

I made it a condition of sale when I purchased. They were off the car when I picked it up. Actually if it's just decals their pretty easy to remove yourself.

muya 05-26-2006 11:43 PM

I will not take a vehicle if it has a dealer logo on it. My dealer didn't even put logos on thier vehicles.

muya 05-26-2006 11:45 PM

BTW you should be able to make them take it off pretty easily.

The missus' hairdryer is your friend......;)

I don't think the dealer could even do anything about it...because they are servicing your MAZDA warranty for any work...not a DEALERSHIP warranty. They may give you a lil grief and sob story about why you should keep it, but techinically speaking, you are NOT required to keep it on the vehicle for ANY means.

Only condition I could imagine would be if the dealer had mentioned anything to you before the sale of the car about benefits (free oil changes, basic maintenence, etc) the dealership would offer you to keep it...which I could honestly NEVER see happening...

If it makes you feel better, I peeled mine off 3 days after I bought the car. It annoyed the #$%^ outta me. The dealer sticker was almost as large as the Mazda lettering. It looked like a "Reineke Mazda". Very tacky. Simply AMAZING how much more sweet it looked once I took it off!

:)

Man, they have your serial number. They know you bought it there. You should have not one problem!

Threaten to charge them an advertising fee!

toxin440 05-27-2006 12:50 AM

60 seconds of careful peeling and a dab of rubbing alcohol and a rag were all i needed to get that advertisement shit off my car... looks 100% better without it. I'm not a rolling billboard god damit!

tjbourgoyne 05-27-2006 06:22 AM

Take that crap off ASAP!

Jaguar_MBA 05-27-2006 06:28 AM

I put a football magnet over mine.

BoosTED 05-27-2006 06:28 AM

Little bit of WD40 makes quick work of taking off decals and other sticky goo. ;)

My dealer puts a license plate bracket on the rear of the car only, nothing on the paint. Since I really like my dealer and got such a great deal, I left the bracket on - until the custom plates arrived - then i took it off.

Yea, because that's better... :dunno:

my car was new on the lot, I told them I would be buying immediately, but I didn't want them adding the dealer logo on the car (a normal part of their prep). They didn't, so I'm happy :)

Too bad mazda makes it so difficult to remove the other badges.

valpac 05-27-2006 09:00 AM

You can ask. And they may remove it, but you cant demand that they do. When I bought my car I asked them to remove it before I bought it. When I got there, so was their decal bigger than life. When I asked them to remove it again, and when the saleguy returned with a plastic paint scraper:nono: , I said thats ok. I'll get it. A little heat and a fingernail was all that was required.

loco4rx8 05-27-2006 09:29 AM

Yeah, I asked my dealer to remove the decal before I bought it. They had no problem with doing it. I always make sure this is done before I buy the car. As someone mentioned before, if you make it a condition before you buy, you should have no problem.

But either way, they should remove it for you. You are the customer. And the customer is always right!

redcivic 05-27-2006 09:48 AM

I make this a condition on every car I buy. My wifes mitsu dealer actually drills holes and add a hard plastic plaque. I told them when we bought it to not even think about or they would be patching a painting. I remember my dad making a big stick over this issue way back in the eighties when he baought a custom F-150. I think that is why most dealers use liscence plate frames and stickers.

Acclaim99 05-28-2006 06:50 AM

I brought it back to them, they took it off no questions asked.

NoTears316 05-28-2006 11:38 AM

I guess I got lucky. My car wasnt on the lot more than a day. They never even had a chance to put a dorky sticker on it.

johnnyo 05-28-2006 11:41 AM

i told them i wouldn't buy it if they used me for advertisement...they didn't argue.

Rx-A-Ho 05-28-2006 12:10 PM

I also told them I would not buy the car if they put dealer badges on the car. I have never heard of a dealer that won't agree to this since they want your cash. Also of they remove them you maybe more willing to spread word of mouth about the dealer service.

If a dealer wants their badges on my car then they are going to pay me to advertise for them...

^^ What he said...

I told the dealer they needed to take it off and they tried to pull the "we would have to charge you to take it of" with a little giggle of course.

I told them to leave it on then and I would send them a bill for $100 a month for advertising... They guy's face went blank and he said, "we'll take it off right now."

Have them do it, if they scratch the paint they are resonsible to fix it.

bbtheory 05-28-2006 04:39 PM

I drove my 8 home from the dealer and then went outside to take my first pics... My dealers decal is a plastic plate type so I just pulled gently until it started to peel up easily... then rubbed off the adhesive with warm soap and water. Took less than 2 minutes.

Napboy 05-28-2006 06:23 PM

what is it with the dealers out east putting decals on the cars they sell? no dealerships out here (california) do that.
