Just wanted to know if there is such a thing as a california spec rx8? If so, what are the major differences (extra cat's, etc)?

I think before 2000 some car companies sell two specs but after 2002 they all sell one spec to fit all states regulations.

 

There is NO California Spec RX8, and never has been one. All RX8s are certified for all 50 states.

 

Great, just wanted to make sure because the car I am looking at was originally purchased new in California.
