ca emmision.....
i wonder if the people who have their car already have california emmision or federal emmision. that could be the hold out in some states....just a theory..

ibfubar2000:
I'm not sure, but isn't the car built to only one spec to cover emission requirements in all 50 states? |
nope their are 2 different emisions california and federal. california has more smog stuff on it. it all depends on the state laws. im not sure which of the states has ca emmisions but i know there are a few.
|
Thx ibfubar2000 for bringing that up, cuz I was wondering abt that too.. It seems more and more cars produced nowadays are built to CA emmision standard. But if not, many manufactures provide that option for no cost. I am not sure about Mazda and specifically the RX8.

Wait a minute......generally speaking, higher emissions=less power.....are the ca compliant cars going to take a hp hit from 247/209?

IBFUBAR is correct that there are 2 separate standards for emissions by I'm 99% sure that KKMmaniac was correct in that all of the US spec cars were built to the same (CA) emissions standards. I read about it in the coffee table book. |
Here in Arizona we have the same requirements for tailpipe emissions as the boys in Cali. We just don't have the visual requirements for bolt ons and all of that other CARB crap which is meaningless. IMHO, all the California requirements do is add cost and complexity for manufacturers while supporting yet another meaningless government bueracracy. Tailpipe emissions should be the ONLY thing that matters:D

They are all the same, no CA / FED. emissions.

Just to clarify, most import manufacturers now make their cars "50 state legal," or in other words the cars can pass a California emissions test, which also means, since it's stricter than any other state, that it will also pass emissions tests in any other state.
About the only thing "California Emissions" gets you on most cars these days is a California emissions certificate. |
