Buying an RX-8
Found an 2003 RX-8 to buy with 80k Miles. Did a compression test with the following results.
4 sparks tested: 1st. 80 psi 2nd. 80 psi 3rd.80 psi 4th. 60 psi The car takes 2-3 seconds to start and it has that for the past 4 years. It has been changed 2 times the sparks and once the coils. If i buy this, is the engine gonna die on me any soon? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |
im no expert, not even the owner of an rx8 yet, but im sure the results are supposed to read differently to this. there should be 3 readings from each rotor giving the compression figures from each face. something like this:
"Rotor #1: 770/750/750 kPa at 276 RPM Rotor #2: 770/780/750 kPa at 280 RPM" |
It sounds like the compression test was done with a typical gauge made for piston engines. If so, the results are completely irrelevant and you'll want to get the test done with the proper equipment and methodology.
