And my heart is set on the RX-8...its beautiful..i wanna get the red with black n red interior.... but i have questions guys...how does everyone like the car??? Would the have gotten a different car?? Can i get every1z Pros n Cons for the car???? Ne help would be great...THANK YOU ALL....

Glad you posted this question... I just got back from a 4 hour tear across Shreveport with my RX-8 and my buddies 350z... we'd ride for a little bit, and then we would switch cars(yes we trust each other alot) If you're lookin for the car that will throw you like a slingshot from the start the 350z will do it... BUT... it feels heavy when you are cornering at a good speed. My 8 was going through corners with no problem, felt really light on its feet. 85 through a fairly tight bend! Almost got a woody!
But away from speed and handling it is preference. Some like the option of a sunroof. I personally love the looks of the 8. Fell in love first time i saw it. Do you want 2 or 4 seats? Base price is little lower on the 8. And best of all... the 9000RPM growl of the Renesis Rotary! If it comes down to the 'Z' or the '8'... in my opinion the 8 is wayyyyyyyy more fun! And worth the money... No regrets at all here!!! Just think, they are engineering a turbo and SC right now so if you want more power later, it will be there! Good luck man! |

Most of the ones that don't like it have gone away, some stay just to make life... ahh 'interesting'. Take a few days, look around, use the <search> button. Enjoy! :) |
Like i Love the way the 8 looks.... Its the best lookin car out of all the ones i listed before.... But people got me hesitant on buying the 8 cause of the problems mazda had b4 with the turbo...
but most likely im trying to go to the 8... like i said..red n black n red interior... 4 seats... n thing i should be aware of before i buy this car??? Ne secrets..words of wisdom...advice... THANK YOU ALL |
Todd,
when you say "They are engineering a Turbo and an SC right now" are you referring to Mazda?...any ideas on how much / when the turbo will be available?..I would be very interested in a twin turbo...very...just curious on what that would run me....one thing that i have been thinking about since i first layed eyes on the car is why they would not make the 8 come with a twin turb as the 7 did....aren't cars supposed to improve as new models come out?...when i first heard the 8 was coming out i was almost certain that it would have to have a twin turbo to compete with the 7......what do you think? |

Secondly, the 8 is NA, and makes the same HP as the 7. In the US it makes a bit less because of the cat requirements, but if they didn't tweak it down due to regulation, it'd be about equal. All things said, I'd rather a NA rotary engine than a turbo that has trouble hitting 100k miles. |
I hear what you're saying...it would be so sweet with a twin turbo though don't ya think...not to say that the car is not hot as is....just that it would be killer with the twin..
|
It would be neat to say it has a twin turbo under the hood, but there are plenty of reasons why not having a turbo is good too. Engine life span is only one of those.

I would say the only deal breakers for the RX-8 are if you want good fuel economy (don't trust the EPA numbers) or if you want something with more acceleration. |

I haer ya on that one...engine life span definitely outweighs having a twin under the hood....
i remember driving my cousin's 7 that had the twin and all i remember is when i hit the gas my neck was pinned to the seat....scary to say i learned how to drive stick on that car....i guess i'm spoiled.... |
There are several people engineering a turbo including Mazda... SSREngineering is almost complete with his kit but i believe i will wait a while to see how everything works out with any kinda kit. Also..... no one has given any advice on a NOS kit. Lets's hear some feedback!

heres some help,
http://autoweek.com/search/search_di...32491&record=2 and another http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ee/index3.html then you might want to spend some time reading around http://www.club350z.net/ then go out and buy an rx-8 just my opinion, i could be wrong. beers |

I personally wanted a 350Z first because I have always been a Z fan. All in all I was happier with the total package of the 8. The back seat was a big factor |
That sounds Awesome Todd!
any ideas of what the turbo will cost?... |
expect to spend 5-7 g's  -------> which is why i wanna hear some feedback on NOS... you'll have the power when you want it and as long as you set everything up right(fuelines etc etc.) and dont missshift you should be alrite! not to mention you can get the kit, bigger fuel lines, and the actual nitrous for about $2500! lets hear some FEEDBACK for cyring out loud!
BTW: does nitrous actually get you high like on Black Sheep? |
holy cow 7 g's would be way more than what i wanted to spend....i was hoping to stay under 4...looks like NOS will definitley be a consideration.

Unless you're drag racing or streetracing N2O is pretty useless and will put a good amount of added stress on your car if you're using it regularly. 3.) A N2O kit will cost you far less than 2500 even with supporting mods added. 4.) You upgrade injectors, sometimes fuel pump, and fuel rails, I hope fuel lines isn't what you really meant. 5.) It won't get you high but it'll get you sick. There's a big difference between the N2O you get for a car and the N2O a dentist uses, mainly sulfer. |
Im sorry...... N20..... i woulda called it nitrous or anything else besides NOS if i woulda known you were gonna try to make fun of me... but im not gonna try to act smarter than you or act like i know everything, im just stating what ive heard... and wouldnt a turbo or SC put stress on the motor as well? ill let Ike take this one again since he is a VERY knowledgable person!!!

FI will put more stress on an engine as well, especially if it's an engine that wasn't designed to have FI in the first place. Engines that are well designed for FI can last longer than most people will ever own a car, which can be hard to say about a car that has had FI added to a normally NA engine. To take that even further FI can be an even bigger problem with rotaries since heat is a big enemy, and turbos especially produce a lot of heat. That being said it's not impossible to add FI to an NA engine and get 100k+ miles out of it with little problems, but I have yet to see it. |

thank you baller... also thank you ike for not including a smart-ass remark in your last post, i enjoyed gettin feedback without being made fun of... you are 30 and i shouldnt have to tell you this, but if you cant say something on the internet that you wouldnt tell somebody face to face then dont say it. But thank you, your input helped me out!

If you are not getting a manual tranny, get a 350z no doubt about it! The RX-8 auto is extremely slow, and not fun to drive at all. As far as getting the Z versus the RX-8... both are fun to drive, the Z is more like a 911, and the 8 is ???; well it has 4 seats and 4 doors. I would have liked the 8 better if it were 2 seats and 2 doors, but if that were the case, they wouldn't sell because it would be the same as a Z.
After owning my 8 for 3 months, I would definately say buy a Z-car. The rotary engine is way to tempermental IMO, and it has absolutely no torque. The Z is more fun to drive, but a little bit heavier. Troy J. |
