Here's the ad for it. Seemed like such a nice car at such a fair price (I actually paid $6500), I flew from the SF bay area to San Diego to buy it. Normally I wouldn't bother, because it wouldn't be worth the chance it was a pos, but the seller seemed very cool and knowledgeable, plus he has a few videos of it on the internet that show the car well.

The car was just as described, and ran great on the 500 mile drive home. I bought the car as an autocross and track car, but I found it was a nice long distance GT car too. Maybe I'll take a few weekend trips in it on Highway 1 or some such thing.

I can't wait to have a chance to drive it 10/10ths. I pretty much just cruised it home other than a couple of blasts up to redline, but I could tell that it's a nimble and good handling car - an over-sized Miata. Something that pushed me over the edge when trying to decide to buy an RX, were all the reviews of the car that mentioned how great it handled. One guy said the handling was "stunning". I'd like to be stunned by handling that good.

I don't plan on doing much to it, it needs tires now, I'm definitely getting some of those, Rivals probably, but other than that it needs no immediate work.

Here's a video from The Smoking Tire of the actual car. The guy in the passenger seat is the guy I bought it from:

Welcome.
I think you'll find once you start pushing it and exploring it's limits, you'll be hooked on it.
It handles the twisties like it's on rails.
Get some good performance tires.
Have fun!

RX8 Club’s recommended maintenance schedule, more comprehensive and proactive than Mazda’s schedule.
30,000 miles:
- Replace Ignition coils
- Replace Plug wires
- Replace Spark plugs
- Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor)
- Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor)
- Reset ESS profile
- Clean power steering connections
- Clean battery terminals and clamps
- Replace transmission fluid
- Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended)
- Replace air filter
- Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line)
~$300 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

every 60,000:
...all 30,000, plus...
- Clean all chassis electrical grounding points
- Replace accessory belts
- Clean OMP lines
- Replace rear differential fluid
- Replace thermostat
- Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins
- Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins
- Inspect catalytic converter
- Clean / Inspect intake valving
- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early
~$130 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

90,000:
...all 30,000, plus any 60,000 not yet done, plus...
- Replace coolant bottle
- Replace radiator hoses
- Replace radiator
- Replace front O2 sensor
- Replace motor mounts
- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks
~$900 USD in parts if you shop smartly.
At 100k, anything original in the cooling system is really suspect and failure prone. It represents the biggest threat to your engine.

You've got a winner! Regarding the handling, it is extraordinary; easily the car's best performance feature. Some years ago, Sports Car International included it in an article about the best handling cars out there, at any price. And that merely confirmed what many auto journalists had been saying since its debut. The twistier the roads around you, the more you love an RX-8. (And if you have the misfortune of living where roads are arrow straight for miles at a time, you probably don't "get" the car.) Have fun!

Congrats. How far is the car from you? Tell us something about it.

It was built for SCCA ITR but has been sitting for a few years. I have a trailer to get it. About 2 hours away
