Blue Light Flash

Anyone experience this?

There is something special.

At 6300 to 6500 RPM a blue light reflects off the tac needle.

The blue flash that hits mye eye is a signal to shift for best MPG.
Once again at 7500RPM I get a blue flash signal to shift. If I miss out the beep at 8500 tells me to shift.

I love this car!

I'm 5' 5" so maybe it's my height and the height of the seat that is causing this experience.

This blue flash ( reflection ) only happens on hard acceleration.

What you bin smokin', boy? :D

Seriously, I never noticed. I'll keep an eye out for it.

It's the blue light that illuminates the gauges reflecting off the tach neddle. Sorry I can't keep frpm laughing. Go open the door at night and don't start the car you will see the blue shine on the gauges or just have a peak into your cluster and you can see it.

Well you might laugh, but like I said at hard accelleration it sparks a reflection off the needle.

You might have to be a certain height in order to see this. I must be lucky. I ain't stupid.
Just hoping the more of you can see it.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you, but while I'm sure you can see the flash, it doesn't mean anything it's no special indicator, it's just a reflection.

Mine does it too. After quick guess, I chocked it up to the light that lights the gauges. Intentional or not, it's nice if you see it spark when you are accelerating heavily, as it will warn you you are approaching the shift beep.

Yes, it does depend on your height and proximity to the cluster. It is your (and one other person's) position in relation to the cluster that allows the illumination to reflect to your eye at precisely those points you noted. Cool for you.

Morgan 09-16-2004 03:33 AM

i use to use the blue...now i'm using white..but i need to switch back to blue...its less harsh on my eyes..*sounds pussy like i know...but i can't see at night the way it is!*

RBRx8 09-16-2004 09:11 AM

I guess I'll have to go back and read my manual closer. Mine has always had 'white' I didn't know you could switch the color. Blue may look cool. I'll have to try and see which i like better.

Use the dimmer switch. White is the brightest setting.

Morgan 09-16-2004 09:37 AM

yea..but make sure your lights are on when you do it! It took me forever to figure out that part *yea, i'm blonde..i know* Its cool..it's blue and red...

mrthundercleese 09-16-2004 10:07 AM

I use the blue/red. I like it. Makes it blend in the with rest of the red tinted front console. And its plenty bright for me.

Sorry for the slight threadjack, but should the gauges change from white to blue/red on all models? I just picked up my Nordic Green GT last night and it only dims as white but never changes color. I'm not sure that I'd rather not have it that way, but the color change was pretty cool and I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Cheers

Are your headlights on!? I also have a GT, and mine does it. I havent seen anywhere where this would be an extra "feature".

Gah! That's what I get for skimming the thread. That was the problem. :o
Flipped it again tonight to see if it would do it and it worked; didn't dawn on me that the headlights had to be on.

Cheers
