Black Friday deal on the 09 RX-8 AT

Just came across an article detailing possible black friday deals on cars. They predict that the 09 RX-8 AT could see up to 24% off the sticker price.

Granted, not many enthusiasts will take them up on the offer, but I figured I'd share this with everyone just for kicks.

Hmmmm

After doing some Math that deal doesn't sound to good to me for a left over '09

If you take the Median price (from article $26,495+ $31,990/2) that = 29,242 x .24= 7,018.08

Example: car costing 29,000- 5000 rebate= 24,000

now substract 2,018 from 24,000 that = 21,982

mazda is already giving a a $5000 rebate calculated into the 24%. so really your only truly saving another 2,018 off the sticker for a 09 (dare I say) left over. In the winter no less.

Some might sound like a good deal but I'm not buying. I smart buyer could workout a deal like that under normal conditions. Don't believe MSRP the dealer always makes some cash on a sale.

Thats funny because I just got a quote for an '09 R3 and the salesman was pretending it was the deal of the century because he could offer me the car for 5,500 off MSRP. Luckily I'm not the idiot he was hoping for. That 5k rebate should have nothing to do with what they can sell the car for. Sticker is 32,600 so without the rebate he is essentially offering me the car for 32,100. Invoice to 500 under invoice + the 5k is much more realistic right now, especially with winter approaching here in the midwest.

Yeah, it always bugs me when stealerships try to include rebate in "savings."

Exactly. The rebate should have no part in the price negotiation. It gets tacked on after you negotiate a price. In other words you negotiate a price as if there were no rebate.

Unfortunately there are probably many who fall for that. They see they can get a couple thousand off and automatically think they are getting a good deal.
