Best take off suggestions

i just got an 07 rx8 manual transmission obviously. ive read that these cars can do about 14.5's on the quarter mile, im justlooking for suggestions on how to get a good take off since i keep spinning out and that takes about 1 second away from me. i ran a crx with a b20 swap and a few mods and it was embarrassing that it took me by 3 cars and im looking to beat a type r teggy so any suggestions on how to improve my driving would be appreciated.

First off, these cars were meant to excel in the twisties, not in straight line acceleration.
Now that we got that over with, most get wheel hop on take off. An upgraded spring, shock and swaybar setup will cure that. The best takeoff rpm is at about 4000 rpm.

sounds to me like you bought the wrong car...

but none the less, what al said!

Why would that be obvious? They do make automatic transmissions

If you're spinning out then either you need to work on your clutch vs throttle technique, or you need better tires

why? someone who put money in their car to make it faster beat your stock car. You do understand how this works, right?

take some driving classes

im not getting a car with paddleshifters, paddleshifters arent even accurate and they are only 4 speeds. im gonna try at 4000 but if an rx8 cant beat a rex OR a teggy than i might have gotten the wrong impression of it being a 14 second car because that is embarassing. i understand EXACTLY how this goes thats why i got a car like this.

It's pretty hard to get 14.5 out of the car, even if you know how to drive it. To get a time even close to that, you pretty much have to thrash on it. If you really feel the need to beat other cars in a straight line, this is not the car for you, plain and simple.

you can understand how your questions are making us think the opposite, right?

Can it be done, of course. Is this the car people want to "lightly" mod to make it a drag beast, no.

Best think I can suggest is taking some classes at the local drag strip. Lots of time can be shaved off with timing your launch, working on your shift points, etc etc. Things that improve with practice.

If you're willing to put some time in behind the wheel then you can maximize what you have.

Or you can just put a 55 shot of nitrous into the car and forget about practicing.

pick a drag strip with a corner :)

Please note OP.
You have probably done irreparable damage to your cars transmittion & diff already by dumping the clutch and not knowing what to properly do. good idea to start putting a down payment on a new one of both.

This thread is an amazing display of people who love this car for what it is - not what they hope it will achieve in a straight line. I suggest you listen to what the undertone is saying and just enjoy the car for what it is.
