Best Place To Buy OEM Parts For My Broken Baby
So on the way to school today some truck driver apparently lost his unsecured load and left it all over the highway. Heading down in moderate traffic, I got that load projected up and directly at my car by an SUV. I couldn't tell exactly what it was, but the officer that came to clean it up told me later that it was a tarp with what he could best describe as dust and fragments of metal rod, along with some fiberglass. Needless to say, my car got wounded. My bumper is cracked, the grill has bits shaved off, the headlight lens is scratched, my windshield is missing a chunk and my hood has a crazy amount of scratches and dents. There are some other small scuffs around the undertray and whatnot, but the major damage is to the aforementioned components.
Now, insurance would cover this, but I have a 1000 dollar deductible on incidents, so I pretty much have to pay for this by myself. Besides, since insurance won't cover shit, I don't even want to them to know. Which means I don't want to go to a body shop to have anything painted and I'm looking to get OEM, painted parts direct from Mazda, or a distributor. I've checked out a few sites that have literally every part of the car available, but they cost a lot and usually for unpainted parts. I've I can get an unpainted bumper cheap, then I can have that painted prior to install. Anyway, sorry for the read, and does anyone have good parts suppliers? New or used, doesn't matter, as long as the prices are decent. Thanks |
have you checked the "for sale" forums around here?

if you gonna replace all this you better go with insurance. bumper and headlight is gonna cost about $2000+

I don't have the first thousand to pay though. I can afford a 200 dollar, primed factory bumper and a paint job though. The biggest thing is my bumper. Everything else is still salvageable, albeit with a nasty amount of scratches and dings.
I don't want higher premiums and I don't need this petty incident on my insurance though. $1000 out of pocket to start repair and then higher premiums? Screw that. |

I dont think you can ever get a $200 factory bumper not even a good quality aftermarket for that price.

Hmmm....All these bits and pieces that you'll have to find are going to add up fast. Not to mention, it's going to really take some serious dedication and luck to sqeeze in well under $1k.
This is just my opinion, but car body parts always tend to demand good money in order to bring the car back to normal condition. Good luck in trying though. It's always worth a shot if you can manage to overcome the stress of this unfortunate dilemma that has come to burden you. Hope it all works out, one way or the other. |

Hurry up and wreck your 8 so I can buy parts off it. Haha. But seriously, don't ever put a scratch on it. You have a gorgeous car. |

I know what you mean. These parts are rare, especially since it's a Series II. No one has parted out a SII yet, so used parts are really hard to find. I don't plan to replace everything yet. I want to stick to just the main part of the bumper and the windshield maybe. Then progressively the hood and emblem and that should be all. The headlight only if I can find a good, cheap replacement one day. Or just the lens, as I can bake it on.

It's very difficult to tolerate an incident that has happened with your 8. No worries, it could've been worst. Most importantly, you have your hope and commitment alive in order to bring that fresh look back on your baby. All the best, partner! :Peace: |

Anyone else know some good sites or places? |
Are you sure that because the accident resulted from road debris damage that your deductible isn't lower? Also, many insurance companies won't jack up your rates because of "act of god" sort of stuff like this. What do you mean the insurance won't cover shit? That's what you pay insurance for.
You're easily going to spend more than $1000 to fix this, and if you do it yourself, youre going to have 2009 automobile with half finished slap together workmanship that will de-value the car far more the $1000 you'll spend on the deductible. Damn man. If you were stretched so tight that you can't pay a deductible, what are you doing buying a newly brand new sports car? |

it would be comprehensive not to change the premium, if it was collision the premium might go up.
This guy is going to waste his own time, money and effort trying a half-assed fix on something that could be completely covered by comprehensive minus the deductible. |

If road debris flies up and hits your car, normally it's a comprehensive claim, right?

I got a new bumper and air dam with my $100 deductible. Your getting screwed over pal. You're probably the one getting screwed carrying a $100 deductible. The sweet spot as far as a rate/deductible ratio is sitting somewhere between a $250 to $500 deductible. You saved $150 to $350 the last time you had an accident, but you also pay a premium for it each year in comparison to a higher deductible plan. I wouldn't want to pay it. If have you no accidents, you win on the $1000. If you're accident prone, you may or may not win on the $100 deductible plan, because you're rate might get jacked. He's not doing it right, if I have him figured out. A person would get a $1000 deductible plan if you easily have the $1000 laying around, and you wanted to role the dice to see if you could save a few dollars that year. He did it the wrong way. He doesn't have the $1000 deductible because he was stretched so thin from paying on the car, and cut corners on the insurance to make ends meet. Now he's painted himself into a corner where he can't afford to get his car fixed even though he has full coverage insurance. I bet youre the one getting screwed, in my opinion, and this guy screwed himself with a bad decision. Live and learn. |

Either way, even if I end up going to my insurance and finding out what would happen now, I'd still just take the check and fix it myself. It's a cracked bumper and scratches. Have you ever removed your front bumper? It's pretty easy. Jason took his off, are you going to tell him his car now has half-assed workmanship? How would it lower the value of the car? It's an undocumented incident as of now and with genuine Mazda parts, no one would know the difference. I'd do just as good a job as any shitty body shop around here, since they are just going to replace, not repair. Nevertheless, maybe I cam getting screwed on my insurance. They gave me an amazing rate though since my parents use them. And the insurance is Farm Bureau in Virginia. NOW, does anyone who where to get decently priced OEM Mazda parts? |
Call your insurance company up and ask. You don't have to open a claim. You may be able to file it underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage and not have to pay a deductible. It will go under comprehensive not collision if not so it isn't your fault it won't make your insurance go up. Just your hood and the bumper alone will be over a grand, used in good condition, more if they have to be painted. might as well pay up and get it all fixed.
the only way you are going to come out cheaper is if you find someone local with a spare bumper or hood your same color you can get the parts from cheap. |

I think it depends. if theres something in the road and you hit it its usually collision. only nature disaster and deer are comprehensive.

I'll give my agent a holler then and see what's up.
