I posted this somewhere before but I'll go ahead and say it again...

In a magazine of road and track review of a porduction RX-8, under the special notes they stated that best launches were performed when disengaging the clutch at 7000 rpm.

I'll post a quote and backup my info with issue number and all that...

I don't know if I'd want to be putting that much wearing on the clutch though... I mean... 7000rpm! crazy!

How did you measure your 0 to 60?

The magazines get the best 0-60 by doing things most of us wouldn't do to our own cars.

I've dropped the clutch a couple times at about 4000-6000 RPMs. I Dropped it at about 7000 once and got nothing but wheelspin. I guess there is a sweet spot to hit. I don't have an accurate way to measure 0-60, so I can't really say how long it took. It didn't take long though, I'd imagine roughly 6 seconds. Then again I don't drag often, so I'm inexperienced.

My best is 6.95 seconds as measured by a G-timer device.

I did not rev the engine at takeoff--normal start. No wheel spin. DSC off.

The car lags badly at first without wheelspin and doesn't start to pull hard until revs hit 5000 or so. I was pretty impressed that it still got under 7 seconds under those conditions.

Or do what I did in my SAAB 9-3... I shattered the hardened steel half shafts while doing a 6Krpm burnout...in reverse!
