Bad Smell

I have a Mazda 6. Last week I was unloading groceries out of my trunk and accidentally left one bag in there. The bag had canned biscuits and a gallon of milk in it. I had no idea until something started to smell about 4 days later. The milk and biscuits had exploded. I cleaned it out the best I could, but there is still a pretty bad stench in my car. Anyone have any suggestions for getting the rotten milk smell out??? My husband drives an RX 8, which is why I am asking on this forum. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

take it to wash tub (yall have those in austin right?) and pay the outragous amount for the FULL hand detail/wax on your car. then, if the smell pursists, keep the reciept and demand to see a manager!

or, you could do what i did (story time....)

so there i was, driving a buddy home while i was in high school. i had a friend buy me a six-pack, then i got a call from this dude, saying he needed a ride home... as we were driving, he asked if he could have a beer... i said sure, thinking he would hold on to it till later...

so, 5 mins down the road, when he asked to see my work knife, i thought nothing of it... then i hear <CHINK><PIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSS> as he opens the beer with my knife, and it spews all over my seats and stuff....

long story short... the smell was there forever. I ended up buying some of that smell remover stuff that supposedly removes the smell of smoke from seats and what not, and sprayed it before i drove my car, and after i drove my car. additionally, i always drove with the windows down to aid in airing out the car. a few weeks after all this, and the smell disappeared.....

Glade Neutralizer.

I used to smoke and I had a company car. When the boss would come I would have to de-reek the car. Close all windows and door of the car.........stick my hand in a crack of the door and spray the Neutralizer.......damn near empty the can......then close the door. Then leave it overnight for the interior to soak in this Neutralizer fog.

Next day..........you could not tell anyone had ever smoked in the car.

Pull out the trunk liner and scrub the hell out of it in your tub. Make sure you get all the stuff thats soaked through the trunk liner and is sitting on the sound deadening stuff underneath.

Reminds me of Seinfeld episode where Jerry has to sell his BMW due to the valet parker BO smell he can't get rid of. I think best bet is too remove and clean or (have cleaned) carpet and liner/insulation as this is what will hold smell. Wash rest of trunk tub w/ disinfectant then leave trunk open as much as possible (over night if you have garage access) to air out. Finish off w/ febreeze once you reinstall carpet.
