Back in The Game!

As some of you might remember, I was rear-ended in December in my 2005 GT RX8!
After 6 months of searching for a replacement, I found a very nice 1 owner 2007 Grand Touring with just 34,000 miles. This owner was very meticulous and kept it in showroom condition. The 2005 was rust free but the clean coat was fading a little on the roof, this one is perfect from top to undercarriage. It isn't the Series 2 GT I was hoping for, but those are very rare in around here (mostly Sport models) MA, and I didn't want to waste my life with a regular car and settled on this beauty.

An absolutely STUNNING example!! Do you know any of the car's history? Is the interior just as gorgeous?

Looks fantastic! Congrats on the find. Get a compression test just to make sure the engine is healthy (I've tested low mileage RX-8's with low compression before, and seen several low-mileage engine replacements in the 04-05 cars), and then enjoy what is damn near a new car.

It's a 1 owner car. Guy had a 2004 RX-8, traded it in for a truck (work related I guess) and missed it so much he was able to purchase a brand new RX-8 and took delivery 8/31/2007 with 14 miles. The car has a build date of 4/2007, and he had all the work done at the dealership. I have all the paperwork for each and every oil change and recall performed. I won't bore you with photos of the stock interior, but it's equally nice. I like the upgrade from vinyl to full leather in the seats. The keyless entry is also a nice touch.

I decided to do my own compression test. I have a Twisted Rotors unit and a rotarycompressiontester.com unit. The first 4 tests were with the TW unit on the front rotor (nearest the accessories) and the RCT-V5 on the rear rotor. Then I did 4 more tests with the RCT-V5 in the front rotor and the TW unit in the rear rotor.. Seems like this engine isn't very good in the rear rotor with the RCT unit! :dunno: I turned the car off at 1:14pm at 208 degrees fahrenheit (OBDII bluedriver scanner) and once I was finished with all testing at 1:55pm, the coolant was 174 degreed fahrenheit. I know the readings need to be converted, but using the calculator at the foxed.ca site shows 99psi at 267rpm to be 95.77 at rpm (falling below the minimum of 98.6psi at 250rpm

Congrats!

And I actually prefer the S1 over the S2. Its smaller grille looks more sophisticated and is, visually, better integrated with the front of the car. I suspect this is how whoever designed the RX-8 wanted it to look. To me, the S2 grille looks like it was forcibly grafted onto the car on orders from Mazda brass just to make it look more like the larger grille on other, newer Mazda models. But visually, it doesn’t work. I don’t care for the look of the S2 side vents either.

That said, I do slightly prefer the revised tail on the S2. Though the overly elaborate S1 taillights have grown on me; now I find them weirdly cool.
