Family commitments saw me get an Auto 4-speed (6-sp would have been nicer). It may not be fast but thats not why I bought it.

Have the 20B-REW Cosmo for the power.

Have the 13B-MSP RX-8 for the style & everyday practicality

The Rx-8 is by far the best car in its class despite beign down on power . Its the overall package thats appealing & even in Auto-guise. Its still a class leading machine.

Mods coming are...........

Headers, Exhaust, K&N Typhon intake, JDM ECU

I had an auto 8 for 3 years, great car. Compromise was to get it auto if I wanted to get it at all (wife!). I agreed -- and it was a great decision. Really enjoyed driving the car.

Also agree with the comments about keeping it above 4000 rpm, and the spectacular handling.

Enjoy!

Plus Pettit is doing great things with the Auto. Keep an eye on their threads for the next few months - I bet you won't be disappointed.

Just bought a 04 auto, love the car even though had it for a month now its in the shop for new engine, oil metering pump, engine mounts. First auto owned, regret it ? Absolutely not, wish I had the 6 speed, well yes. Got rid of the 7 conv for an eclipse but got smart and came back to the rotary, a few probs with it so far but how did I miss it, just wish they had a torqu converter the can spin to 9000 rpms, that would be the first mod I would do. Pics coming soon!!!

I think the auto, especially having the paddle shifters, gives you the best of both worlds (manual vs. auto). I drive mine in sport mode 100% of the time using the paddle shifters. It allows you to time the shifts at exactly the RPM you want and still leaves one hand free to hold a cup of coffee. Try doing that with a manual!

You must get some crazy looks blasting around town in a Cosmo! That thing must be a blast!

I have an '04 TiGrey GT-A...appearance pkg, black/red leather seats/bose system etc.

I absolutely LOVE having it

I live in the city...so rush hour traffic is pretty ...to be blunt...STUPID...and not having to mess with a gear shift is amazing...but 90% of the time...I have it in manual mode just because I like hearing the rotary zoom to those high rpms before the car shifts...and downshifting at my own will hearing the wirr of the motor before stop signs...helps not using breaks too!

I think about trading it in for a manual daily...but then traffic and overall not really having to pay attention while driving...makes me love the AT more.

I'm very happy with my decision to buy the auto.

2nd that! Lag only happens when short shifting at very low rpm's. Something like trying to shift all 4 gears before reacing 30mph.

haha yeah I love my car and I live around a lot of rush-hour traffic so having a sexy car like this in auto/manual is amazing.

Yeah? You might be waiting for a while.

What have you done to your car so far?

Love my automatic.

Who needs to row? The auto. driven properly using the manual mode gives me all the excitement I need. So if the 6 speed is a little faster from 0-60, who cares? The convenience and smoothness of the auto. is a pleasure 97% of the time. Are these manual guys always competing at traffic lights? I doubt it. Now with the 6 speed auto. there's even more reason not to row.
