Appearance Package Question
 

Hey guys.

Does anyone know how much it would be to add the appearance package to an rx8 that didn't come with one at the dealer? Is this even possible?

The Grand Touring (GT) is the only 8 that comes with one Stock.

I know... I'm looking for an 8 now and there really aren't that many GTs with appearance package. It's making my search very difficult.

i have a turing and mine came wit it.

The full appearance package can be had painted in your color for 400 on ebay... quality of the paint is a whole different issue though. Do a search for azpartsexpress.

Should be pretty easy to install yourself. I believe most of the holes are there already.

You could install yourself, but some parts are tricky. If you get a body shop, find a good one or they'll f-it up, especially the side panels.

I added appearance pkg. to my 05 GT. I found rear and side flares used, but had to buy front new. The cheapest you'll find is from the dealers that discount. Maybe you'll find used on here or on eBay.

You may be able to get a better price negotiating with a dealership. I added both the Appearance Package and Rear Spoiler to my car. From the dealership the parts (already factory painted in the original color) cost $850, and they charged $250 to install them. You could probably get things done a little cheaper from e-bay parts and a backyard install, but, for me, I preferred to spend a few more bucks and have it look perfect.

Several members here have pieced together the appearance package. Someone always has something for sale.

i have black sides for sale for cheap ... but yea that price is crazy high

+1. It was an option... Doesn't matter which package you had, if you didn't have the appearance package option, you don't have the appearance package.

azpartsexpress is hit or miss, some of their stuff is factory painted, some is repainted. I got my appearance stuff from them really cheap ($225), front air dam is OEM paint and is holding up well, side flares are repaints and have chipped a bit but look OK with a little touch up paint. My car came with the splash guards, so I didn't add the rear flares.

With Shinkas it was an option #2AP and cost $360

So, if your car's a couple of years old, you wouldn't have to worry about the paint having faded slightly and the new appearance kit not matching perfectly?

Soooo, no input on whether there might be a color mismatch?

it would depend on what your car has gone through
i added the front lip after 4 years of owning the car. I have a garage but it's seen it's share of the sun and the color matched perfectly.

There might be a slight mismatch but shouldn't be that noticeable.

Thanks for the responses. I've only had my RX8 for about 18 months. However, every two years or so I get the itch to buy a new car. (It's a sickness...)

I'm thinking that if I make a nice upgrade to my RX8 next summer then I might be able to stave off that itch for a bit longer.

Just do it - the car isn't getting any younger. :)
