Anyone else get rattles from the instrument panel/steering column?

I had to go through L.A. yesterday and the 5 freeway sucks. I had been driving my car around on smooth Orange County roads up till then and was quite annoyed with the rid to say the least on the 5 freeway. But anyways, I noticed that after a while of bumping and thudding over potholes that I started to hear this rattle/shudder from either the steering column or the instrumnent cluster/panel. I tried dampening both the turn signal and wiper blade stalks to see if it was them that were shuddering but it wasn't. It was a very light shudder but it got annoying after riding on that road to hell for over an hour.

my instrument cluster housing rattles when the temp is cold. Luckly for me, FL is rarely cold.

I don't think there is a panel in my car that doesn't rattle... especially when its cold

Really? I never hear a rattle. Maybe I should turn down the music (103.5 The Beat). lol Seriously I do not get much or rattle and my 8 is an 04. I do go to the dealer every week and make sure everything is good.

Lol you go to the dealer every week? Either they love you, or they hate your guts by now.

Dealers typically do not do work on rattles once your car is over 12k miles.

No rattles, was worried when they pulled everything to replace the fire wall - but job well done and no rattles - Since the car runs almost daily up and down a mile and a half of pot holes, dirt, and rock, if it could shake loose, it would - Car is 05 and runs like silk!

Did rattle change with car speed - some parts of 5 have ridges especially in the inner lanes where big trucks go - at 60-65 mph these can be a pain!

Rinka: I do, but only on bumpy roads

I have only twice and they were both short lived. Haven't herd them in months.

every friday and sunday i drive on the 5 from san diego up to the 99 split and no rattles its not the greatest ride but it is way better than my expedition

Mine rattles on choppy pavement, I located the noise and it's between the door and dash in the upper corner. If I jam my finger in there it goes away, still waiting to find some time to go take it in to get it fixed.

the problems with my rattles is I can't duplicate them consistently. They come and go so it'll be hard for me to get a dealer to fix them if I can't duplicate it for them.

Here is a "TSB" about what some of you are talking about.....what do you guys think??

yeah I saw that TSB but it mentions a squeaking noise. I don't get a squeaking noise.

No rattles consistently. Only the weird ticking sound from the HVAC vents (probably something caught there) from time to time. I puff a bit into the vent, and it's gone.

After 15K miles, no shakes or rattles, except things in the glovebox.

In the first RX-8 we had,, I had a rattle in the steering wheel.
If you tap your finger on the Air-bag it sounded like a small piece of metal inside.
The dealer checked it out and said it was in the Air-bag.
Before I knew it they came back out and said it was fixed.
They installed a new Air-bag in the steering wheel. All better.

The new RX-8 we have, the left rear door rattles pretty bad over bumps.
They will be looking into that very soon.
