Ambient temperature thermometer any good?
 

I wondering if everybody's thermometer works well. I'm not sure, but it seems like it doesn't always give an accurate reading. Especially after I've driven the car for a while, stopped, and then driven again within an hour or so. I assume that the engine heat doesn't dissipate well when the car is standing still, and that that affects the thermometer. But even with cold starts or long drives, it just doesn't seem like the thermometer works well. Anybody have a similar experience? Maybe I don't live in a climate with large enough temp changes.

mine seems to be accurate

Mine reads high when I first get into the car on a hot day, but once moving, with airflow over the sensor, it's pretty acurate.

The other morning ours got a bit confused. It said it was 76 outside, but we were both wearing coats and using the seat heaters and heater. After about 3 minutes it decided the temp was actually 54. This was after being parked all night. That's the only time I've noticed it so far, but I'll keep an eye on it since other people are having issues.

Where is the sensor located?
Does it correct for "wind chill" when we're blasting down the highway?

Wind chill is an effect on your skin, not thermometers.

My therm is about two degrees off from all the bank thermometers....
