I had the pleasure of this while in Fort Bragg last week.

KoDeD 08-12-2008 09:53 AM

Ouch.. Is the 8 ok?

JRichter 08-12-2008 10:06 AM

Damn, that looks rough.

New2u 08-12-2008 10:07 AM

Hail Damage on the hood, roof, drivers side doors, passenger side doors, and the left and right area right behind the wheel.

Ryan2008 08-12-2008 10:08 AM

oh boy :banghead: will insurance cover all that? I would try to get all new panels instead of trying to pull them out. It'll never look as smooth as brand new if you do, and people will notice. Happened to a buddy of mine.

KoDeD 08-12-2008 10:11 AM

Ouch, I just died a little inside :( Hopefully you can get it fixed for cheap (so long as they do a good job)..

New2u 08-12-2008 10:16 AM

well i filed a claim with the insurance, but my deductible is 500, which isn't too bad because the claims rep said to get it out of the roof with a sunroof on it, would almost cost 500 alone. Where i'm going to get the work done is pretty reputable where i'm at, and since I have progressive, the work the shop does is 100% guaranteed for life.

RojoOcho 08-12-2008 10:47 AM

Wow...

depends on the body shop and how deep the pits are. if they are shallow a good shop can pull them out and you will never know the difference.

Mother nature - 1
Mazda RX8 - 0

Sucks that it happened, but at least insurance will be paying for that new Mazdaspeed front bumper :)

I will now officially stop complaining about our incessant rain in the NE of late. That hail is really destructive. Sorry to hear!

dozer 08-12-2008 11:08 AM

OUCH! damn that sucks im glad i live in southern california

Raptor75 08-12-2008 11:20 AM

Go paintless dent removal, they did a great job on my RX with hail damage.

New2u 08-12-2008 11:40 AM

Yeah they are most likely going to use PDR (paintless dent removal). The pits are pretty small so most of them should be quite easy to get out, i hope lol. The guy they have working on it is coming from a close city, and hail damage is the only thing he does.

i love the rain, it's actually the first time in about 10 years i've seen hail. First time it hailed in that area i was in, in about 5 years also...:eyetwitch

flagella 08-12-2008 11:56 AM

The insurance should cover it. Should be classifed under "Act of God".

New2u 08-12-2008 12:39 PM

Nope, hail isn't considered an act of god. It's considered under weather, at least for progressive, but i think that's how it is for any insurance. Just wish it was a 250 deductible. :banghead:

jones75254 08-12-2008 01:06 PM

Eh, u get a brand new makeover for $500. If they do a good job is worth it in the end. (unless urs was an 07 or newer and spotless:))

SideOfBacon 08-12-2008 01:06 PM

^ how is hail not considered an act of god?! hurricane, tornadoes, etc are considered 'act of god' and yet are also under "weather" as you put it. i swear.. the shit some insurance companies pull...

New2u 08-12-2008 01:30 PM

lol yeah insurance companies suck balls, but in progressive it actually has a whole area just for hail, and i believe geico was the same way. It's stupid. Mine was an '06 with only like 2 dings on the roof from nuts falling on it from a previous owner. So Yeah it kinda sucked.:eyetwitch

rddragoness 08-12-2008 01:52 PM

OWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! Looking at that just hurts! I have the same problem right now, hail/debris damage. USAA set it up on my comp insurance....0 deductible for me, since thats the way I have my policy set up, but this should just be a simple comp claim. I'm waiting on my kit to get this done, so we're splitting some of the costs. It'll save us both money.

onephatguy 08-12-2008 04:41 PM

Sucks, but I love the pic.

Groundrush 08-12-2008 06:01 PM

Dude...GARAGE! I'd have been receiving dents in my skull hauling ass out there to get the car under shelter. Heck, I've been known to leave work and drive to local car washes mid-day when there was a hint of hail on the way, just to get it under cover. Sucks man. Sorry to hear about the damage.

Well lets just hope he does a great job and you can get your 8 back soon. Next time go clear bra buddy!!

AJ's Shinka 08-12-2008 07:21 PM

Damn it doesn't look like the bra is gonna help much. On the brighter side mazda paint has been known to be suspect so if you get a better paint job then its a good thing that it happened.
