Ah, Clear Corners and Zaino

The two most loved and hated topics. I just wanted to say hi and show my car. I've posted beofre but the weather has been heck for taking pictures and washing the car right.

I rotated the tree pick. It's the reflection from the hood and I thought a good shot of how Zaino makes the car a mirror.

Wow--that tree photo is impressive!!

What have you done with the grille on the wheel well vent?

Smileynh 04-11-2006 09:04 AM

Haven't done anything to the vent. I thought about getting Strakes but I like the way it looks just the way it is. My next purchase will be the rear rotary accent(ordering today).

The tires are Pirelli Snowsports(until May, it snowed last #$#@ week) on generic aluminum rims. Doing my second coat of Zaino tomorrow.

Why did you ask about the vent?

dmc27 04-11-2006 09:48 AM

Black is so nice when clean . . .

The vents look grayish, but it is b/c the sun is so low - and catching the vents straight on.

Snow in April sucks :cussing: !!!

I was gonna pick that up. does it actually work that well?

SoFL_RX8 04-11-2006 10:11 AM

Its def. not showroom shine, but if you just wash with it and wax by hand, I think its just as good, and takes about half the time. Def. worth it for quick washes before a night on the town, or whatever.

Jedi54 04-11-2006 11:25 AM

I tried it ONCE on my car and it just didn't work very well on a black car. I spent more time rinsing with the 'spot free rise' cycle then I would have drying it with a micro fiber towel...

Not sure if I know you but where from NH are your from? Goffstown here. Got an '04 BB myself. We should get together sometime and have a detail day. I could invite other 8 owners over too :)

tiggerlee 04-11-2006 08:24 PM

WOW another black 8 all shiney with Zaino. Between you and Jedi54 you guys are killing me with your pics. I got the Ultimate Zaino kit weeks ago, just trying to schedule a weekend to apply it. Nice job btw.

tell me about it. 60-65 hour weeks and it wants to rain when I actually have time. or like last weekend SNOW! my BB is filthy and I fell so ashamed. maybe if I ditch the woman I can spend more time with my 8 . . .

Smileynh 04-12-2006 05:04 AM

<- Married with 3 kids, ie. no time. This weekend was just nice though. 60-70 degrees. My wife was planting flowers kids riding the power scooter and power wheels fire truck. My wife doesn't mind me working on the car. She knows it's my therapy. I get that focused look combined with a stupid grin. Intense-Happiness ;)

Going to try for a second coat today. The car was pretty shiney to start only 3k miles. Zaino mad a big difference on the reflectivity though. Black Mirror now. And I agree with those that say Zaino smells like candy. Cotton Candy, Grape Bubble gum etc.

I live in Merrimack NH. Theres another BB and a Blue that's 2 wks newer then mine. Neither have clear corners though ;)

:)

I never knew how to wash the car properly. Thx for the tips here. Best one was:

Wash a single panel at a time top to bottom drying each panel as you go. Allow the water to sheet not spray.

The sheeting part is a pain unless you have an on/off valve at the end or want to flood the street(dumb). But drying right away allows you to see if you missed anything.
