After market lug nut locks

hey guys i recently bought a used 2004 VR 8 from a private dealer and i noticed that the rims have a lug lock on each of them. I contacted them but they said that they bought the car from the dealership like that and didnt have a key. My question is that is this something i can call mazda about or should i go to a tire shop and see what they can do?

Thanks!

Dealerships and most tire shops should be able to assist you with removal.

Here's a great alternative: http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda.../21-1058c.html

Congrats and welcome!

May seem like a dumb question but, have you checked where the jack is stored in the car? That's where they put my keyed lug nut socket at.

haha actually thats not dumb at all i havent! i will check that as soon as i get out of work

yeah check like vlaze said, should be in a little baggie in with the jack. wouldn't be surprised if you got shafted and the original owner lost it or something, but most people just leave it with the jack i would think

My dealership was able to identify the key I needed it and then I ordered it. It's only like $14 if it's not in near your jack.

it was in my trunk compartment haha thanks yall!

Any suggestions for red lug nuts with or without keys? I'm tired of my oem ones.

Vlaze 05-27-2010 01:34 PM

Lunacy, for stock rims there are a lot of options out there I believe. I chose Mcgard spline lug nuts for needing a unique key socket and the correct spline one for my aftermarket rims if someone tried theft. For stock rims they're probably overboard but they have tuner ones that are regular socket shaped like your stock ones that are offered in different colors. Just check their specs out for length to make sure they don't look ridiculously long sticking out there on a stock wheel.

^ me too, that's why I linked the McGard's in the 2nd post above. ;)
