I put an Injen on mine, and have been happy with it. It is quiet at normal driving and has a pleasing tone at high rpms or while driving hard. Everyone that has ever heard it outside the car says it sounds awesome

well which would be better for the rx8 short ram or cold air still cant pick cause people are telling me short ram will help with my take off but i could lose power at top end
but with the cold air it wont really do anything tell you get high rpms soooooo which one

before you get into intakes, you should prolly gauge the status of your engine and then go from there

first and foremost, check the last time the coils, plugs and wires were changed

if it has been awhile, i would suggest doing that and looking at the options (bhr) for upgrading your ignition

having tried the MS intake for about a year, yeah its loud.... but it sucks in the rain and the improvement wasn't really worth the money spent. If you do decide to got with an intake, make sure the piping reaches outside of the engine bay, otherwise you were defeating the purpose.

David: short ram intakes are not the way to go with out car. I refer to them as HOT air intakes.

your absolute best options are the AEM or the Racing Beat with Duct.
Trust me, I've had both on my car. :)

^dont listen to him.... he isnt even a real jedi

soooo cold air ... cool thanks guys i guys im going with the AME the only real issue with that that i have read about it that the it could suck it water from rain an shit but a bypass valve should take care of that issue right???

and whats good bout racing beat havent heard much bout it. and how does it should??

sorry bout so many questions guys i just want the best for my car its kinda like my baby

Not sure about AEM, but my MS comes with rain cover, which reduce the chance of sucking in water. I've owned the CAI for few years, drove in the rain (vented hood), no issue. I'm guess most ppl that sucked in water don't have the rain cover on (simply want to have more incoming air?).

just my .02

The stock intake is already a CAI, why waste money.

Both are worthless...jk, lol

Rain cover?
I think it's called a water sock that fits over the air filter element that is exposed, and I would guess that the socks ability to restrict water has also got to affect it's ability to flow air.

Heavy rain, deep deep puddles, freezing rain, and snow can all cause problems with this system.

THE OP is a idiot for posting this thread. Obviously to lazy to do even the slightest bit of searching as this is all out there and is very easy to find.
What was it you said in post #9 ..... a bypass valve .... lol
Yeah ... just like the one in head that bypasses your brain.
