Need help rx8 shopping!!

alright, i don't own an rx8 yet, so i have a few question, i have used the search button, but didn't get the answers i want.

my questions are
what is the reliability?!?
i've called 3 different person and they said that they had thier engine replaced under warranty? was their a defect?
what's better 2004 50k or 2004 50k with new engine?
or 2005 with 30k?
about the same prices.......i really would like to know if it will run crappy after a new enginE?

Dude, this question is asked 6 times a day. I really can't believe you searched and didn't come up with anything.

As long as the recalls have been done and the car has been taken care of by the previous owner, reliability is not an issue. There are people on this forum who are nearing 100,000 miles in their 8's with no issues. I'm at 60k now with no problems.

oh boy, here goes...

- Reliability is the one question that you'll get a lot of different answers on. I had some transmission issues, squeaky brakes, and a noisy sunroof...all fixed under warranty for free.

- 2004 models seemed to have a few more issues then the rest so I'd go 2005 + if you can.

- Most people here who got a new engine found that it usually ran much better then their original engine.

If you're asking that, are you really cut out for a sports car?

what's better 2004 50k or 2004 50k with new engine?
or 2005 with 30k?
Any used car is a crap shoot. There is no general answer to that question. Whatever you consider getting, do two things. One, research prices. Two, have a good mechanic lined up to check out whatever you're going to buy.

hell yea that's a good deal. Razz may think you can get it lower, but I've never seen an RX-8 with under 50,000 miles go for under $15,000 before. What trim level is it? Sport, Touring, or Grand Touring?

it's either a sport or touring edition RX-8. If it has the sunroof it's probably the touring. That's a really good price. I would definitely ****** that 8 up before someone else does.

Oh, and is it a manual or auto?

Your tiburon might be as fast as your g/f's RX-8, if you get an auto. The '04-'05 automatics actually have 40 less horsepower than the manuals. It drops the hp down from 238 to 197. It doesn't redline nearly as high either (the manual redlines at 9,000 RPM, and I believe the auto redlines at 7500). My advice.........teach your girl how to drive a manual! In terms of the fun factor, it's definitely worth it.
