Adjusting alarm.

Does anyone know how to adjust the sensitivity on the alarm sensors?

I was at my boyfriend's house this weekend and apparently my alarm kept going off repeatedly. We didn't notice it because we walked to a bar by his house and weren't home for hours. At 8 a.m. the next morning one of the neighbors came over highly pissed off and yelling about my car alarm going off (which we only know of going off twice, when I very first got there hours before we left to go to the bar). It didn't go off all night when we were home (about 5-8 p.m. and between 3 a.m. and the neighbor showing up at 8 a.m.). It only went off when I parked it on the street across from his house instead of in the driveway. After the second time in like 20 minutes of me being there (busy road with a lot of traffic) his roommate moved his car and told me to park in the driveway so it would stop. And, as far as we knew, it did. Don't know what it did when we weren't there but it seems odd that it would go off repeatedly when we weren't there but not when we were there. :dunno:

Anyway, is there a way for me to do it myself without having to take it in? I don't want to keep pissing off his neighbors.

Keep your head away from the headboard!

Just kidding.

I think.

If you have the shock sensor, then you just have to find out where it is installed in your car and turn the sensitivity down. If you are talking about the theft alarm going off, then I have no idea how to get that adjusted.

I have the shock sensor. I don't know if it's acting up or what, but my alarm is going off far more often than it used to, sometimes for apparently no reason at all. I know it goes off with loud thunder, obnoxious stray cat jumping on it kind of thing. But, now it just goes off repeatedly with no one near it or anything passing buy. That's part of why I was wondering where it was, in case it might have gotten bumped or something, which made it more sensitive. I'll have to take a look when I have some more time (or if the heavy rain and wind ever let up). Thanks!

Change the battery on the keyfob first to make sure it is putting out signal, it's cheap and easy to do. You might ahve to start ripping things off to get to the sensor

It's the same one I got rid of a few months ago. We worked out our "issues" and things are much better now. :)

Oh, and the battery is fine. I called yesterday between my morning job and my evening job and they said to bring it in and they could adjust it for me (now I just need to find time to get it done that fits my still slightly abnormal schedule with starting my new job and all). I asked if it could be the battery and was told that since I have the transmitter, if it were a battery problem I wouldn't be able to turn the ignition knob because it would be locked, not sensing the transmitter. They also said the alarm going off for no reason would be unrelated to the key unless possibly I was standing somewhat near the car and the transmitter was sending off signals to set off the panic button. So, they just think it's too sensitive. Said they could turn it down in a maybe 15 minutes. If I had known my alarm was being such a pain I would have had them do it when I got my oil changed about two weeks ago.
