About the warranty on my car.

I just recently started financing a 2004 rx8, I was wondering if I were to install an aftermarket exhaust, (racing beat rev8) if that would void the engine warranty or if it would void any warrantys at all.

I was also wondering the same thing about installing an aftermarket intake.

Thanks.

Legally, no. Generally from most dealers, no.

However, that being said, there have been a few occasions where nasty dealerships try to find every excuse they can to avoid warranty work, and have attempted to use such things against the owner.

They have to prove that the intake or exhaust contributed to the problem to refuse warranty work legally, and since Mazda makes an intake and exhaust, that is something they would have a hell of a time trying to prove.

So if you are going to worry about it any, take a few minutes and call your dealer and straight up ask them if they would give you problems about it.

Edit:
I should probably add that if you are in a very dusty or sandy environment, you need to be very careful with the air filter you pick for use on the intake, as getting sand into the engine HAS happened in places like Daytona for non-paper filters (like there is stock)

It didn't void the warrranty on mine, there just basic bolt-on mods it shouldn't be the cause of any major problem(s) on your car so you should be good to go if you want to upgrade on exhaust or intake and keep your warranty

if you call them, the dealership will say it will give you warranty problems just to attempt to discourage you.

at least that was my experience.
