The 8 is NOT a chick car!

I love my car. I love it probably more even after learning about the fake Hp rating, the oil consumption and extra care in maintaining it - just makes it that much special and lets me know that 8 owners must know a fair amount about their cars, unlike some other wannabe car enthusiasts. I love the attention it gets and the great feeling I get driving it. I couldn't care less that every 350z, s2000, g35, rsx, etc etc think they can run circles around my car. I didn't buy this car to street race with dumbass street racers. I like the fact that the Rensis has such linear acceleration, its so much easier to drive than something that kicks in like a mule at a certain rpm. I love the way the car looks, its styling is classy and its design is admirable. I can't help but smile when I open the suicide doors in public and people stop to stare. I LOVE it when people get a confused look on their face when I tell them that my car isn't a v4 or a v6, that it doesn't have any pistons at all. Most of all, I love it that every girl I know wants a ride.
What pisses me off is that some dumbasses are now calling the 8 a chick car. My Jetta is a chick car no matter how much I modded it, the 8 is NOT a chick car, it just happens to attract the ladies. The last time I saw a girl drive a 220hp(more realistic estimate) car with a manual tranny I asked her out on the spot. I've only seen one girl drive the 8 and it was an auto :P.
If I get one more jackass comment that the 8 is a chick car, I'll rip the pistons out of their car and beat em down until they see the light.

Sorry to vent, just that my friend who drives a friggin Mini S, told me I drive a girls' car. Next time I'm going to simply step on his Mini like an empty beer can.

he drives a mini ---nuff said

brothervoodoo 02-26-2004 12:03 PM

I don't think your car or the perceived people making accusations are the problem.

rrhea 02-26-2004 12:06 PM

Well, my wife drives our RX-8, and it's a manual shift. Please don't ask her out, though. :)

People are retarded. I used to drive an S2000 and would get comments like "what a cute car". The last thing I want to hear is that my car is cute.

Does your friend always dress like a clown while driving the Mini? Is he fulltime with the circus driving a company car? :D

yes exactly! "thats a chick car" is not what I want to hear when I drive my 8. As for your wife rrhea, she's in Tn, so I dont see much of a problem there, I'm in cali.
We gave mini guy hell for buying the car (much like him making fun of the 8....). In all honesty, the mini is actually pretty cool and surprisingly fast. He doesn't dress like a clown, but he's from england and he does dress like he's in a dulcegabbana ad. gets him the girls so more power to him.

RX8Bliss, I think you need to calm down and put thing into perspective. All the qualities you mentioned are still there in the vehicle. Just becuase the car's design happens to make it look feminine, and attract female drivers is ok. We'll just have to accept the RX8's fate as it is. And yes, whenever I go to me dealer here in New York, I usually see a woman in her 30's or early 40's checking out the car, (and usually in Auto) Only once saw a guy sitting in it, and he got out pretty fast.

In fact I got such a good deal on my 6 speed because my salesamn mentioned it's the autos that most people want, and the delaership order mostly 6 speeds. I never thought to ask if it's women drivers purchasing the auto trans model.

The other thing is that the car doesn't get too much attention on the road here in NY. In fact, the only time I get comments is when I park (or am looking for a parking spot) in Chelsea or Christopher street, which are predominantly gay areas. I get comments from groups of men every time I go out to eat in that area, and I know it's not me, its the car (though if I were gay, the RX8 would have gotten me dates the very first weekend.) I've learned now to park and walk away quickly.

It's all ok, it really is a great car, you just have to get used to the fact that we are all driving a Chick car, and I'm OK with that.

SPOOF SPOOF SPOOF SPOOF

Total spoof post. Lies. made it all up no such thing. In fact my girlfriend (who learned to drive on a stick) hates the fact that I bought the RX8. She thinks it not a practical car and is hard to drive and see out the back, and a pain in the ass to deal with shifting.

The 8 is not a chick car, though I am glad we have some female enthusiasts on the board. Also when I first got my Probe GT, someone said the said thing, "Chick car", total BS- people are probably jealous asn don't even know it.

RX8Bliss 02-26-2004 12:40 PM

lol emaillists, you had me freaking out that I now own a gay car...... not that theres anything wrong with that.

I had been waiting for the right time to sneak that made up story here on the message boards. My sense of humor does get me in trouble from time to time.

RX8Bliss well said. Could not agree more.

I actually like minis... they are very good handling, small cars.

Of course, I actually WANT an 8.

Nubo 02-26-2004 01:36 PM

Oh well. My Miata was a Kiddie Kar. I got plenty of compliments; they were just all from kids under 7. I guess I can handle having a Chick Car.

Outlaws eXtreme 02-26-2004 02:09 PM

240SX is a chick car... forget the Drifting BS.

Meowloud 02-26-2004 02:18 PM

Darn right Brother Voodoo! Here I go on my tyrant...

I am SO TIRED of this car handling SO WELL and sounding SO NICE! And I HATE the fact that it saves me on insurance!! UGH!
AND if things couldn't be WORSE.... I _am_ a chick!!! OH GOSH!
And I drive a 6 speed GT! STOP THE INSANITY!!!

I don't know why I can't have some self-esteem and buy a boxy, uncomfortable car!! I don't know why I just can't ignore people because I know they run my life! AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH

cruzdreamer 02-26-2004 02:30 PM

My husband feels certain cars are for men, others for women....he does not feel the 8 is a woman's car. Heck....the MINI looks more like a woman's car...i think he's got it backwards!

sable 02-26-2004 02:55 PM

Score one more "chic" with a 6spd on the list.

jniamehr 02-26-2004 02:56 PM

Heres my deal with the mini (as a teenager) and its pertainment (real word?) to women... I could never see my mother as a mini driver or any other mothers in a mini because well, I usually see moms in SUV's... and minivans (yuck)

rxse7en 02-26-2004 03:03 PM

I had a Mini S tailgating me last night on the way to a meeting. The road opened up and I put 5 bus lengths on him--along with a dose of flames. :D

Pirate Rex 02-26-2004 03:11 PM

Sorry all. According to my group of buddies that hang out and talk about cars, chicks and cigars, here is a list of our official chick cars:

VW New Beetle
VW Jetta
BMW Z3
Mazda Miata (sorry Mazda fans)
Honda s2000 (chick with balls, so a tranny car, I guess)

Just our opinion, flame away...

Hornet 02-26-2004 03:15 PM

From my experience the RX-8 is not a chick car. The majority of people who approach me and make comments or ask questions are men. I have seen women checking it out and saying they like the 8 as well but I've only seen one driving it.

For a little more about what is or isn't a chick car, I have NEVER seen a man driving a Mini (maybe that's just me!). I also bug my sister trying to see what cars she likes (trying to get her to upgrade since she drives a Corolla and makes over $100k per year). The only car she has straight out told me she likes is the Mini.

On a side note a whole lot of women like Mustangs too.

So to those who would call a RX-8 a chick car, based on what observations or experience?

I love this forum! You guys (to me, 'you guys' = guys and gals) are so much fun! :D

jtimbck2 02-26-2004 03:33 PM

Good grief, are you guys really so insecure that you get upset when someone thinks of your car as a "chick car"?
