8 for me?
 

Hey, Im potential buyer just looking for some insite. (yes, I have already read the first post that is recomended.
The car im looking at is a 2004 with about 110k miles.

Basically a little backround.
I work 35+ hours a week and go to school fullish time 15 credit hours this semester.
My last two cars were a 98 camaro and lastly a 87 supra RIP :(. Both were stick. Im not sure why but autos dull me. that and when I drive one I always try to push in the cluth hence hitting my head on steering wheel at times.

Basically my question is would you recomend this car to me? are there any key points you would like to point out? ect.

I know everything was talked about in the first thread but I just wanted to hear from some of the members.

I would recommend not buying an 04...def look for one a little newer. The 04's are notorious for having problems. I've got two 04's and they are both yard ornaments.

Depends on the condition and price of the car, your budget, and your mechanical ability.

Do you have time to fix it if it breaks?
Can you be without the car while it's being repaired?
Can you afford to have someone else fix it if you can't?

Even with a new engine, the car has 110k on it. Wear items may or will be worn out, things may be already broken, or the drivetrain could be on its last leg. This isn't just for high mileage 8's this is advice for any high mileage car.

I just got an 04 2 weeks ago with 118,100 miles on it its 6 speed i got it at an auction so i don't know the history on this car but it runs really good and smooth everything is running fine.

As for fixing the car I am capable. If there are step by step instructions on the matter. Im not very good at the engine itself (atleast piston engines) BUt everything around it im fine with.

Also Im not into driving a car straight in fast. A good time to me in a car is learning to get your slides more controlled and being able to come out of them within small areas.

How much are they selling the car for?

I have an 04 GT, and like the members said, they are more likely to have problems. my whole steering went out and it was a $2100 bill out of my pocket, my oem starter was done for at 35k (oem starters on these cars arent all that great), and a few other small things. rotarys are ALOT different than piston engines man, not trying to be an ass of any kind but read as much as you possibly can on this forum and search, search, and search even more until your eyes are bloodshot. Im sure members on here will help you with any questions. Read some stickies, theyll deff help you out! good luck with your potential buy also

I would try for one with lower mileage. 04's aren't as problematic as people think. I have 72k on my 04 with no major issues. Just make sure to check it out thouroughly and get a comp done since it's past the engine warranty ppl might be trying to dump it because it's blown up.

Whatever year it is, if the compression passes, then its all good. After that, take care of it and the engine will last longer even with a very high mileage car. If you do that, the car will love you for it...lol
