Now you need one of those big GT spoilers/handlebars to push it to a gas station.

I have a MSCAI on my 2008 40th Anniversary Edition and I premix with Pettit Racing Protek-R. Both the cold air intake and the premix help me slightly with gas mileage.

With highway driving like long trips, I find I can routinely get 20-22mpg , driving at 5-10mph over the posted speed limit. So I have reached 300 miles per tankfull, and that is with the 2004-2008 size gas tank. The 2009-2011 RX8s have one more gallon capacity in the gas tank, so they should be able to reach the 300 miles fine with mostly highway driving . I have found on the 2004-2008 models you have between 1.5-2 gallons of gas left in the tank when the low gas warning light FIRST comes on. So watch your distance from a gas station accordingly.

Not fair!

I have trouble getting to 210 which is about the time when the fuel light comes on for me :(

During the summer I hardly do much highway driving, but when it was during the school year I mainly did highway driving and then maybe 10 minutes to get to my house off the highway and I got just around 17 miles per gallon.

S2 have a larger fuel tank than S1's.

When I took a trip to Colorado I was easily getting 22 mpg going between 65 and 90 probably 80 70%+ of the way. If you figure when the light turns on that you have 1.5-2 gallons left out of a 16.9 tank then if you refuel right as the light comes on and are getting 22 mpg you could see 320-330 to a tank. I am very happy with the gas mileage on long trips that is pretty decent I think. Now in the city I usually get about 15 mpg.

Yes but the R3 also gets less mpg.

I got to 300.8 before the fuel light came on this weekend. This was a mix of highway (mostly driving mid to high 70s) and country (45 to 65 limit) roads driving. I do top off my gas tank beyond the point that the pump shuts itself off so I started with more than the 15.9 gallon cap. How much more, I don't know. The average for the tank was 22.55 mpg. Not my best, as one time last year with the same type of driving I managed 23.2-ish. I would guess that over 24 would've been possible had the car been filled with non-ethanol blend.

All HWY I have gone 300 miles until the light turns on.

Jacob6875 07-11-2011 10:48 PM

I made it to 306.7 on my last fill up. I put in exactly 13 gallons so I could have made it another 60 miles or so if I wanted.

PeteInLongBeach 07-12-2011 02:11 AM

I went 365 on a tank last weekend...

mortaneous 07-12-2011 02:21 PM

o.O did u roll down a hill for 150 miles? lol

mbentley 07-12-2011 08:21 PM

it's surprising what kind of fuel mileage you can get when you drive 100% highway with very little variance in speed and traffic. on 6/30, i filled up at 321 miles in my 2005, 13.62 gallons. that was driving home from gatlinburg, tn.

mkmike103 07-12-2011 11:13 PM

I broke 300 miles on a tank once or twice while driving from NY to AZ in my '04. 100% highway. Have never come close since with regular driving.

About 75% highway miles. Most of it on the windy Pacific Coast Hwy, all with the A/C on, and I certainly wasn't driving with max mpg in mind. But, I ain't gonna lie, I was getting nervous those last couple of miles. ;)

Fill up was 14.09 gallons, which works out to be 21.3 mpg. I get 16mpg normally, which is 90% city driving.
