30,000 service??
ok my car is getting to 30,000 and last time that i was getting a oil change the guy told me that its close to 30,000 i was wondering if that if its really needed yet ... i know that for some other cars i passed it ....

What service have you done on your car so far?
|
The 30K service replaces your plugs, which if they haven't been done, will need to be. It replaces your gear and differential oil, which in my '04 was a completely necessary service. I passed it up, and by 45,000 miles my shifter was very stiff and notchy to engage. When I changed the oil that was cured, but there was a great deal of metal filings in the oil when changed.
IMHO the 30K service is very necessary. |
yup, did it myself just recently although i haven't changed plugs and coils. gotta order them up at rosenthal as the parts dealer here charge me $88 for one coil (just the part, they're not installing it) as opposed to rosenthal's $27. can just imagine how much for the plugs here... damn stealerships...

Yeah, the best deal I could find on the net was sparkplugs.com. I got a slightly better deal from a friend using his mechanic's wholesale discount through another site. The dealerships are sick about that and the air filter. (That's supposed to be done every 20K, and if it isn't it can lead to stalling and hard starting when the car is warm.) The coils are not strictly necessary. You can replace them as a preventive measure or you can wait until they fail. It's an owner's choice, but they should last more than 30K miles before going bad. Should doesn't mean that they will, but they should.

I passed it up, Im fine.

DIY or buy parts and get it done somewhere else
I just did my 60k maintenance myself. you can get parts MUCH cheaper elsewhere i bought OEM coils and plugs for about 90 shipped redline or royal purple diff fluid and trans fluid (i chose redline) pm me if you need coils/plugs, i might be able to help you get a good deal |
yeah def change plugs and diff and tranny fluid.....

Sorry if this has been answered, but do coils need to be replaced at the 30k service?
I didn't think that they did. Thanks. |

I didn't think that they did. Thanks. mine crap on me on just a little over 14K miles. it works, but not in good condition. Dealership replace my coils twice within 4-5 months because its not good, and not even couple thousand miles. so go figure :) |

Whats the average cost on this service ?
|
i got quoted for $800. others for over $1k.
|
I did mine two month ago for $614.77 including Diff. oil change and engine decarb.
|
you can buy the ignition coils from finishlineperformance.com for $100 and do it yourself. you need 4.
diff oil change is easy as well and will cost you $20. engine decarb is supposed to be free under msp-16. |
So basically .. you only have to replace
1. Coils and plugs 2. Oil ?? |
And what about the 60K miles service?
