Got a letter for each of my 8s the other day . TBH I'm more concerned about the lower arm issue than the air bag one ... I've seen what happens when those let go !

Unhappy Still waiting.

I am still waiting Mazda to get Air Bag parts .. I was just told by Mazda NA,.
"2016 Recall 9416E For that particular recall the interim repair is available. If performed, it resets the clock on that part as it is affected by time and humidity. We're expecting to have final parts available at the beginning of the new year."

This is For the July 2016 Recall 9416E .. I was first told in late 2016 that Mazda had the preeminent replacement Air Bag for the Passenger side.. I moved to Oregon Form California now I am told the part is not ready yet.. I have been waiting on all the Air bag recalls so they only monkey with the car one time.. Now its has Both front Air bags, Gas Tank and Lower A Arm Recalls.. Has anyone else been told they do not have the Passenger Side Permanent Ari Bag yet ? Or are they just installing the Temp bag only to call you back and make you replace that one later? It has been very diffaclut to find a delreship that even wants to talk to me in Oregon. I call and email them and they give me the Recall 8 Shuffle!. So Annoyed with Mazda.

I talked to the parts department at my dealer once about this and they said it is a different part number. I will inquire more when I go there next time for my usual routine of oil filter and crusher purchase.

Just got mine done like a while ago. For some reason, in Canada, they are only replacing the ones for 2009 for S2.

Great news. As I suspected Mazda is playing Games with us.. As I am 30 miles North of California and My Car was a Zone A car.. They were indeed holding back the Final Air bag. I was able to find a Great Mazda Dealer in Gladstone Oregon. I drove 700 Miles Round Trip. but they were able to Get me the Final Air Bag from there own Parts Dept in a California Dealership they owned. Mazda NA Told me to **** Off!. But Mazda Of Gladstone got me taken care of. And all 4 of my Recalls are all done. Lastly the New Lower A Arms feel Great. If you are in need of a Quality Mazda Dealer in Oregon.. Check them out.. They Stayed past closing to get my Car done. And for that they are very Awesome.. No New Scratch's no new Squeaks.. All 100 %. I Highly Recommend this Dealer, And that is saying a lot for me.

!! Zoom Zoom .

Yes sir- Mazda used that fancy computer to draw the zone optimizing for minimal air bag changes and charges. We do that sort of thing in mapping distribution points for logistics to minimize freight charges or optimize the temperature to which a product is exposed to optimize shelf life.

And it is not acceptable. Especially when Mazda and the NHTS says do not drive the car with a passenger, and do not drive the car with the gas tank issue and do not drive the car with the OEM A Arms that might just crack at anytime. !!! . So do not let them force you to wait. The Rx8 has had to many recalls for way to long. Find a good dealership that will work around this.. Its not like there are millions of Rx8's on the road. Yes it uses the same Bag inflation system as most of the others on the road. But its not acceptable for Mazda to do this.. For me being 30 miles from Zone A only to be told your in Zone C now is a joke!. Mazda NA needs a Spanking!. I am so happy to know that there are still a few good Mazda Dealerships that do care.

I just recieved my Air Bag recall in the mail yesterday. Its not very specific on which air bag, is the steering wheel one, the ones in the seats? If its the passenger side dash air bag, well hell yea I'm getting it replaced lol, the dash is cracked to **** there. Also have the recalls for the fuel tank seal and lower control arm. Time to schedule a appointment, Im just worried about the care my RX8 will recieve, Im very doubtful that anyone there has any experience with Rotarys, and sure the hell will have it parked Flooded and calling me to replace so many parts or even the engine. Im sketched out to have anyone work on my RX8 without my supervision. I know the stealership wont be getting around to the repairs right away, so it could be there a month or longer if the stall and flood the engine.

not even a days work so book it in for a specific day. Why have you doubts about no-one will know about Rotaries at a Mazda dealership ? Its driver and passenger airbag

For the 100th time
Air bag recall DOES NOT renew the cracked passenger dash cover part.

I did my recall a month ago, however, the airbag light is still showing on the dash. It was fine for a for a couple of weeks, however, it's not functioning now

I will have to call the dealership to rectify the issue

You do know all these recalls are only a temporary fix, they are from the same maker and the same design specification, in other words basically unchanged, all they have added is Silica Gel to absorb the moisture which itself eventually expires.

Nobody really knows if in 6 years time if you will get another, the people I have talked to have no clue..
I guess they think the cars will be junked by then?

Frankly I don't know why car makers including Mazda did not do a complete redesign from a different maker. Oh like the maker who supplies the steering wheel air bag on S2 and Mazda 2, 3, MX-5, can't recall their name, Diacel or something like that.
Mazda like all of them do the cheap option.

From what I have read, there is simply too much demand for the supply to meet. Big car makers like Toyota, Ford, Honda, etc. are all recalling their cars. Just the number of Honda Civics can give you a big headache. Might not even be cost, just the fact you can't even get them even if you have the money.

how recently? I was curious if this was an active recall and something that can still be acted on.

Once a recall is out, it's always active.

Get yours done ASAP.

A Mazda dealer will do all the work for free. I think your car and your life is worth the two-hour drive, don't you agree. Cheers
