2008 Specs and 40th Anniversary Info ...... Finally!

5 Attachment(s)
Sorry for the long delay this time around fellas but i finally today was able to get a hold of all the 2008 RX-8 info. So here are the PDFs.

Note: Job 1 for the 40th Anniversary was Nov. 1 and there will only be 1k units

also for 2008 you can no longer get the black / red interior with sunlight silver.

Revvittupp 11-13-2007 06:29 PM

So, it's a Shinka with a new color scheme... They certainly could have done a bit more...

volk 11-13-2007 06:35 PM

whoopie!

RX8Maine 11-13-2007 07:30 PM

I wonder what they'll charge for the Bilsteins at the parts counter . . .

gundarx 11-13-2007 07:41 PM

Thanks for the info! Wow only $300 more MSRP from the GT 6-speed for the 40th Anniv. edition.. That Cosmo Red interior looks hideous though

chetrickerman 11-13-2007 08:14 PM

i like the rims

Conundrum 11-13-2007 09:25 PM

Don't like the color of interior on 40th Anniv. Edition. They should had just use Stormy Blue Mica with Sand Leather as 40th.

hey Zoom,

So it is confirmed that 2008 RX-8 cannot be ordered any more? Since 40th Anniv. suppose to be the last to build? Whatever we see at this point is whatever we get? My local dealerships still claim that they can be ordered, check with two dealerships.

DrKillJoY 11-13-2007 09:28 PM

Dealers might be ordering from general stock before it hits port.

Renesis_8 11-13-2007 09:31 PM

that color is ugly... should've made all the black plastic pieces the same color too, like a version(can't recall) of FD RX-7 w/ red interior.

This is the first set of non stock rims (non stock for my car anyway) that I've seen that I like. I like them a lot.

nycgps 11-13-2007 11:06 PM

The only differents I see between my Shinka and this is the

Sport tuned suspension w/Bilstein dampers
40th badge

I think Im ok with my 14mm Tokico shocks. Not to mention I already have a whole set of Hipermax III waiting for me to install (due next spring probably)

and that 40th badge .... Oh well. It doesnt matter to me :)

rglbegl 11-13-2007 11:11 PM

Wheels look decent. Who makes them?

tjbourgoyne 11-13-2007 11:41 PM

This car must have set some record for least amount of changes over the years.

gundarx 11-13-2007 11:45 PM

^ try the Honda NSX

Or the S2000. Oh wait, they increased the engine size to 2.2l.

How about the Toyota Matrix?

We got burned on our "factory-ordered" Mazdaspeed3 like that. Turns out that it wasn't factory built, they just allocated it during shipping. Our vehicle wound up laying on it's side along with the rest of the junkers on the Cougar Ace.

sharkman 11-14-2007 12:18 PM

They should have made 'em with a mazdaspeed body kit and a nicer color...that grey is too "dead" looking...my take is that a sports car should look like one..with that said they keck, they should have made it available with all mazdaspeed parts as a 40th anniversary package.

Am I the only one that is kind of disturbed the curb weight keeps going up? It was 3029 in 2005, 3038 in 2006 (if I remember correctly), and now it's 3053 for 2008. I know there are differences between the trim levels, but Mazda should be weighing the same trim level for their quote. If there's no change, why the extra 15 pounds?

Metropolitan gray? Cosmo Red?
Yes folks, this could quite possibly be the gayest RX-8 ever! :bj:

Jedi54 11-19-2007 03:28 PM

saw the interior in person @ the LA Auto Show; reminded me exactly of the interior in my buddy's MX-5. (which he's had for 2 years now)

Yeah, right.

Fanman 11-22-2007 11:50 PM

Saw it at the LA Autoshow this past week. Not too enamoured with the color of the interior, but the quality of the leather seems nicer than my 04' GT.
