2005 MY changes...anyone hear anything official yet?

I remember reading in a thread that Mazda was going to announce sometime in June what changes there would be for the 2005 model year RX-8. I think the rumors said that white would be added as a color option and yellow dropped. Personally I'm rooting for different option packages allowing us U.S. buyers (friggin' Canadians!) to get leather without the headroom robbing sunroof.

So, it being June now, has anyone actually heard anything from Mazda?

Once the announcement is made, I can finally decide whether to buy an '04 or wait for the '05.

A Mazda Freak (salesman) at my dealer told me its for sure that white is going to replace yellow....that is the only thing he could confirm as of right now.

I actually just got an e-mail back from Mazda today confirming the 2005 changes. Here's what their representative had to say:

Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.

Most 2005 RX-8 specification is available now. Quite succinctly, the only notable changes are the deletion of Yellow and the addition of White for color choices and the addition of a satellite-ready option. No functional, interior or package combination changes have been made for 2005.

By the end of Summer, our website should also be refreshed to reflect 2005 vehicle specifications, too.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda. It has been my pleasure to assist you. Please feel free to reply to this message with any further questions or comments.

Thus, it looks like everyone here was right when they said that the only major change will be replacing yellow with white. I'm guessing that the satellite-ready option means satellite radio. If anyone here knows anything else, please enlighten us.

Hope this helps.

That's the info I was looking for...even if it isn't the news I wanted to hear.

Maybe I'll just move to the Great White North.

Also the key has the remote lock/unlock built-in to it in 2005 (at least so said Mazda).

Can we eventually buy those keys for the 04 you think?

What do you mean by the keys?

Kinda like the Land Rover where the key and keyless module are integrated as one.

Hopefully they will fix all the little bugs in the 04s.

I smell a radio upgrade if I can get satellite radio installed into the factory unit.
Bye Bye ugly aftermarket boom box looking thing in my console....

I wish they would bring the dark blue to the US, sharpest color on the 8 IMHO.
