1 nagging issue b4 i commit to an 8

wassap guys,

i am thinking of getting at 8. almost all the way through, but heard from a friend that the gearstick even on the 6sp manual can get really really hot under very sprited driving. In factt the guy said that it was almost too hot to hold with bare hands!??
anyone had issues with this?

No, it get's warm, so does the middle console. That's why poeple talk about keeping their coffee warm in the cupholders there. It not by any means hot at all. Even if it gets that hot, why would you hold on to the shifter and not the shift ****. Bogus.

The shifer itself is only as hot as the interior leather. If you hold the part that's down inside the leather boot, it's only slightly warm. It's actually kind of nice for tucking your hands into during the winter when your hands are cold. If anything, I'd say it's an unintended feature rather than a problem.

Your friend was apparently smoking something. The only time my shifter gets hot is when the car is sitting outside closed up in 95 degree heat. ANd it STILL has never been hot enough that it was even close to being uncomfortable to touch.

Nonsense. I never noticed anything like that even after a 5 hour track session. By the way the engine never got hot either. Now the trunk or the cup holders, that is a different matter. They get hot just driving to work. Never put ice cream in the trunk.

Do you think your friend might be a bit jealous if you were to get an 8? Because it sounds to me like he's making up some pretty tall tales to keep you from getting a most awesome vehicle. SDB has it right - trunk and cupholders, yes; shifter, nope. Now go buy your 8!
