Before anyone gets too worked up, I absolutely love this car, and would say nothing but good things about it.

So I got my Rx-8 about a month ago, some of you guys might have remembered, but here I am a month later, and well.... take a look

Guess I should have gotten a better alarm system installed earlier, I figured something would have went off if someone broke the window though (maybe I was just sleeping too heavily).

My neighbors rang the doorbell and woke me up about an hour ago to tell me, and my other neighbors were robbed yesterday, so I think my neighborhood is being targeted or something. Anyone have an idea of how much it's gonna cost to replace? (and probably install a good alarm system?)

Well, thanks for reading this everyone, just needed to get it off my chest, I'm sure everyone here will understand how I'm feeling.

fucking assholes. sorry to see this happen to you man :[

9krpmrx8 07-30-2010 02:51 PM

Shit man, I had the same thing happen at a night club, the price was like $800.00. I paid a $500.00 glass deductible (which promptly renegotiated after that claim).

You don't use your garage?

jasonrxeight 07-30-2010 02:51 PM

call your insurance see if they can cover it.
and why didnt you park it in your garage?
and why did the guy smash rear windsheild? hes not gonna open the door from there.

Pendleton 07-30-2010 02:54 PM

I don't get why you'd break the rear glass, on both side, to break into the car. You can't really reach anything from there, and they certainly didn't climb through those holes. And if they somehow actually got a door open, why do the other side....I'm confused. Then again, thieves are stupid 9 times out of 10.

could be OP's case too.
I had some one bumped into my old car because of that too "oh theres a nice car, lets hit it."

Maybe it was someone who had heard about Tiger Wood's wife breaking a back window to rescue Tiger after his wreck. Must have figured that was the way to get into a car.

Were the robberies in the neighborhood clumsy, i.e., did they smash their way in with no finesse? If so, it was probably one of the thieves having fun swinging his club.

Sorry man.

Call insurance

Get it repaired

Move

Kaiser bun 07-30-2010 03:12 PM

I guess i would rather have someone smash my window then smash the car itselft lol, oh well as long as the glass didnt tear up your interior should just be a replaced window. This is prob the final story i am going to read before i myself get a shock sensor...

Roidz 07-30-2010 03:27 PM

Shoot, that sucks. Did they take anything? Probably would be hard to get to anything like others have said since it was the back window and they obviously can't fit through that little hole.

Brettus 07-30-2010 03:30 PM

bastards .
I see a gge door in the background . Why don't you use the gge ?

Art475 07-30-2010 03:32 PM

Nothing was stolen, nothing was even visible, probably just straight vandalism. First time's anything like this ever happened in my neighborhood though, that I know of at least, and sadly i have a pool table in the garage.... wish i didnt now though.

dshiznit1489 07-30-2010 03:43 PM

Shitty. You own a gun?

kjb 07-30-2010 06:39 PM

Sounds like it's time to get rid of the pool table. I hate parking anything outside because of things like this. I just built a big garage for the motorhome so it'll be safely indoors.

Sometimes the damage is self induced, like the neighbor I had at our last house. He had a really nice NA Miata and left it outside. Eventually the back window disintegrated and car would sit there in the rain and snow, turning to junk.

theres your problem

Tweek 07-30-2010 11:08 PM

Well i know in Florida front windshield damages are almost free to repair since its a safety hazard or something, idk about the rear though.

dntsan 07-30-2010 11:21 PM

Wow, I didn't even have a chance to see your car yet. Hope you get your car fiixed asap! Time to move the pool table the car is definitely worth more!

Fencig 07-30-2010 11:23 PM

I'm glad that I first own and use a 3 car garage and also am likely to wake if you drop a pin within a mile of my house. Many of my neighbors are grateful of the fact i wake and chase off the random hood in our area. However, If I saw them in my garage doing that to my 8...or even the escort or jeep... I'd have to spend a little time for excessive force. some people only learn respect for other's property the hard way.

It's sad that so many feel that your work equates to their right to own or destroy.

DocBeech 07-31-2010 03:30 AM

call your insurance company and ask them their policy on glass replacement. A lot of them don't like to talk about it, but have a glass replacement at no charge to customers policy. at least if they say no you looked into it.

Art475 08-05-2010 05:39 PM

So my 8's all fixed up (since monday), and I've been searching for alarm systems lately. One thing still confuses me though, does a normal shock sensor detect glass breaking, or should i buy the extra glass break sensor? I find it kinda stupid that alarms wouldn't be able to detect someone breaking your windows, not like people break in by hitting the metal. Or would the alarm only go off if someone hit the window hard enough to activate the shock sensor?

On a side note, I'm currently looking at Clifford alarms, since I can get a discount from a friend.

garage is what you want
shock sensor only can detect viberation

jayscoobs 08-05-2010 06:43 PM

yeah theres a lot of haters in the bay area. A lot of honda guys are always revving at you and staring at you and what not. Im scared to even park on my curb, so everyday I scrape going up the driveway just to go in the garage.

Razz1 08-05-2010 10:28 PM

wow... I feel sorry for you..
