09 RX8 remote key/key chain question

I bought my 09RX809 with just one remote key on a thin string through the end of rectangle. I can't put it on a key chain because there is no hole large enough for one. Keeping it in wallet and taking it out to open doors is a pain, and if I just keep it in my pant pockets, I am afarid I would lose it.

Getting another one seems to be too expensive in case I lose it. How can I get another remote for less?

Suggestions.

I keep mine in my wallet and just use the button on the doors to lock and unlock the car. I never need to take the key out of the wallet since everything operates remotely (doors, start engine) or can be opened with the key in proximity (trunk using button under lip/above license plate)

its a keyless key, you just push the button on the door handle to unlock. no need to use remote.:boring:

You could only get it from the dealership, i assume.

You could try ebay for another key, there's always a few sellers with the RX-8 key available, no personal experience with them though.

I keep mine in my pocket all the time. That's the whole point of the keyless system: that you don't need a key, lol!!!

And yes, they are very expensive at the dealership because the sell them in pairs and they need to reprogram them.

I did find the button for the doors but what about the trunk. I could not spot any button to open it and had to pull out my remote from my wallet to open the trunk. Is there a button/switch I am unable to see that can open the trunk without using a key or pressing a button on remote?

There is a button "hidden" in the bumper in 40th AE. Similar idea to the ones on the doors, but larger in diameter. So i don't need to use my keyless card for the trunk either. Not sure if other models have that button though

Forgot to mention the button is actually upside down, upper right corner of the license plate - inside that "cavity" . I didn't even know it was there until somebody from this forum told me about it, lol
