The Cabin is always hot..cant use the cup holders with out the drnk evaporating lol anyone else have this problem?

Rems31 06-14-2007 11:00 AM

Everyone does. Make it a FWD car and you can solve that problem.

Socr8tes 06-14-2007 11:00 AM

How hot is fuck, exactly?

depends on how fast you're going :ky:

EDIT: oh and yes, I get this issue too. along with my ac blowing cool air as opposed to cold air.

donack456 06-14-2007 11:18 AM

Open your sun roof and lower your windows, let the wind blow through your hair!!! That will cool you off. I wonder is that engine heat bc the engine pushed back so far its almost mid-engine designed? For that kind of balance its Ok to be hot. Blow your A/C or get the upgraded A/C unit.

Kinda of. The engine sits pretty far back, which then pushes the tranny back. The tranny is right under the cup holders. That's where all the heat comes from.

Nope, the tranny is not under the cup holder, is more like under the Headunit

The car is freaking hot because

1. is a RWD car, the shaft goes thru the mid panel, it spins, it creates fiction, so it will create heat
2. There is a Catalyst Converter right under your cup holder. Well, that thing can go like 1500 degrees of heat.

So there you go

Solution
For 1. There is none, well yeah, maybe if u switch ur car.
For 2. Change it to a Cat-less Midpipe. the cabin will be alot cooler(but the earth will become ALOT warmer)

The cupholders are for COFFEE, not your 32-oz. Mountain Dew.

They work perfectly well. I like the "keep it hot" functionality.

NoTears316 06-14-2007 11:42 AM

The cabin is pretty hot... until others complain about the seat heaters not working well enough, then I guess it's too cold in there.

dmp 06-14-2007 12:16 PM

I'd be happy if my ebrake handle wouldn't virtually MELT in the sun. :(

MazdaManiac 06-14-2007 12:21 PM

I'm actually surprised that folks are still having hot-cabin issues at this point.
With all the added pads, flash changes, etc., I find that the interior of my '8 is pretty comfortable year 'round.
Even when its 115°F here, I can get all the surfaces on the inside of my car down to a comfortable temperature in just a few minutes.
Of course, not having a CAT might be part of that...

With an '04 model did you ever get the the thermal blanket added to the center channel? That helps a lot to keep the temp down there...

Interesting. I will have to check my 03 model for that next time I get a chance.

BTW, any rotary Mazda is "as hot as fuck" in the cabin............Period

Duh.. :spank: Having the cat right under the passenger footwell is probably the primary cause of cabin heatsoak.

I have to agree that it does get a little bit unbearable in the past 2 weeks with the hot June weather.

The scary thing is the exhaust gas is hot as f-ck too, even on a cold engine. I think the Paris Hilton picture pretty much sums it all up.

A comment.

I am a fairly recent new member of the RX8Club. I have learned much about my car through the Club site and have benefited greatly from the information and advice.

With more than 35,000 members there are many different perspectives and ways of communicating. It's not unexpected that at times the language will be somewhat coarse. However, it gets frustrating when in the language gets vulgar. For example, the title of this thread.

As a husband and father of three daughters, I find the use of words such as "FUCK" and similar to be very unacceptable, especially offensive, and degrading to the women in my life. Reviewing the forum's rules I see that there is a desire to maintain a "family friendly" site.

Forum rules 9 say, "If you are posting a new thread, do not use vulgarity in the title of the thread. Inside a thread, profanity will only be allowed if used in a controlled manner, and not directed at a particular forum member. Again, just try and be respectful of other forum members."

And #8, "The forum strives to maintain a welcoming and family type atmosphere for its members. Any attempts, overt or covert, to undermine this goal will not be tolerated."

I'm sorry if my "sensitivities" seem silly to all who might read them, but sometimes is easy to forget that others may not share the same ways of communicating as you do. I suspect there are other venues that you watch your language -- please try to do so here.

Again, I very much enjoy the Club website. Hope to keep on enjoying it for a very long time.

Thanx, kors-jan

good call, I agree

When I first got my 8 it never really cooled that well. So I took it in for service and they discovered it was low on freon (or whatever it is these days).

So they topped it off and after that, even in the heat of Texas, it kept me cool. A significant improvement.

So maybe check that.

Might I suggest that you would be better served censoring your own viewing.
Knowing that there might be offensive "ideas" floating around in the form of "words", perhaps you should not expose your sensitive sensibilities (or children) to the possibly irreversible damage that might occur should you be exposed to such vulgar thoughts.

PSTNLSS 06-14-2007 07:27 PM

stop rippin ass in ur car

that always warms me up

tiggerlee 06-14-2007 07:55 PM

It was never really an issue for me. yeah the cupholders get warm inside but not "hot as fuck' as some have described.

SmokeyTheBalrog 06-14-2007 07:55 PM

Think of the Children!

kors-jan, you know you are not supposed to sit ON the god fucking damn shifter.

But seriously dead kittens and raped dogs man, with you being so sensitive you should be careful which of the internets you sign onto.

Oh, and while you are at it, censor the world for your family yourself. That's your job not ours. People (including legislators) don't seem to understand that. As far as the internet goes there is plenty of software out there to protect you and your families fragile little brains from "harmful" thoughts.

The rule is there to keep things from getting out oh hand and to make it clear the extreme actions (i.e. posting nudie picts) are not allowed. If you think this is an all ages site just keep an eye on MazdaManiac's avatars. :p:

Ah here is an agree able site for you mr. OP: http://knoxdot.org/

I'm thinking that Kors-jan made a very good point and that crapping on him for asking people to use a little decorum was completely out of line. I also found the subject line pointlessly offensive.

Regarding the original poster, my interior is really cool! The temperature is warm, but I think the interior is cool.

Seriously, the only way the car cools off in the summer is to completely ventilate the hot stale air out of it when you get in - fortunately the -8 has tremendously large door openings - open both sides wide open and open the sunroof when you get to the car on a hot day - leave it like that while you start it and set the air on the "fresh" setting to purge the ductwork of hot air as well. Then, just close it all up, set the air on recirc and max fan, and drive off. Also keeping the sunroof sunshade closed makes a huge difference as well. The car WILL not get "hang meat" cold, but it will be comfortable.
