Hopefully I'll have some more substantial updates in the next couple months. Car is at the body shop and engine is with the builder.

Just a couple updates. Pineapple Racing 1pc solid dowel, and Goopy Performance 17pc 10mm stud kit. I think the irons are with Mazmart getting lapped.

Also for some new wheels. Volk SF Challenge 19x10.5 for the rear and 19x 9.5 for the front.

Street car so don't care. This car will likely never see the track, and if i does, it would be with dedicated wheels and tires for that purpose. This car has had staggered 19's on it for almost 10 years.

Should have told me you had a build thread.

Subbed... I like the Seats personally... They remind me of alot of the cool factory seats you find in the 90's out of japan... I think Nissan and Honda had some of the best patterns... I like the color too.

This will be good reference if I pull the trigger on a 3 Rotor build or not...

Given the cost of 19” tires you should care a lot. Stagger prevents you from properly rotating tires fore-aft.

As someone who frequently runs properly wide, both staggered and squared wheel setups on their cars... My experience is the staggered setups have the best road manners - Op specified this was as street car, so naturally that is what you want. As far as 19's go Large Diameter wheels also tend to ride better since they "fall" into large cracks and small potholes less.

I wouldn't run 19's either, but there are good reasons for doing it, and it will look good.

If I can afford a 20b, $500 - $1,000 a year in tires isn't much of a concern to me. At least the car wont be "Stanced"...

A 19" rim is too large of diameter is what I think they are getting at, however, I could be wrong. 19" is like a show car rim

Maybe I missed it, as I am going to be doing the same thing here in the near future with my newly acquired 8, what is the purpose of your build?

Thanks,

Nick

They don’t fall in less unless the tire OD is increased, which tends to be an issue with any lowering on an RX8 especially when going wider too. Generally speaking they’re heavier with shorter sidewalls and more likely to take pothole damage. If you want road manners go buy a Lexus rather than stick a 20B in an RX8 chassis, but that actually might make sense. If that’s what he wants it’s not necessary for you to make lame arguements on his behalf because what he wants on his car is all that matters.

19's are stock on 09+ cars. The argument is basically staggered vs square, and overall weight. Team isn't wrong on that fact that my setup isn't ideal performance wise. It's just ascetics. It's also not a track car.

Actually, I have panspeed front and rear fenders already. They will be widened a little extra though, and the front will be modified for S2 lights.

Mazmart. They're not chep, and you'll need the adapter harnesses, all the mounting brackets, and an S2 09+ front end swap.

Noted... what mounts you using for 20b fitment? I fit the 13bre with fd rear crossmember kit and defined 20b to fd mounts.

Thought I'd give an update since it's been a while.

With the S2 swap the Panspeed fenders will require too much work to match with the S2 lights and to widen them. I have gone with the Lions Kit V2.

The eshaft is out of alignment, and the kink is too close to a lobe to be straightened. Per Rick Engman the motor will have an 8500 RPM redline, max do to the shaft issues, but should be fine otherwise. This makes the original NA build pointless, as to reach the power goals, we would need to spin it higher.

Rotors are back from Chip Motorsports. Lightened, balanced, and side clearanced. Image attached.

An adapter kit has just been released for the 370z JK40C transmission to bolt to rotary engines, so I'm going that route for the transmission as it should hold a LOT more power than any of the RX8 solutions at a reasonable price.
For anyone interested in the transmission adapter: JK40C/CD009 Transmission from 370Z on 13B

The motor has been large street ported, and it will also have a small half bridge instead of the semi pports. The setup is changing to a single turbo, and vmount setup. It's scheduled to go into the fabricator March 3rd to have the turbo plumbed and for a little "Hammer Time" on the tunnel for the new transmission. Hopefully I'll have everything else ready before the fabricator, so once he's done, it can go straight off for tuning. Going to try and have it ready for DGRR 2019... We'll see how that goes...

Anyone interested in a set of Panspeed wide fenders, and EvoR carbon fender vents?
Also have a 5spd transmission I wont be needing...
