This looks AWESOME!!!

Which cat did you use?

paimon.soror 01-24-2013 04:01 PM

sure is an attractive price. Any sound clips?

Hydr0nium 01-27-2013 06:48 PM

Will you also offer a variation with a resonator? Will it even need a resonator?

Not as of yet.

It will only be available with the cat at this time, adding a resonator is not necessary.

TopGear8 01-27-2013 10:56 PM

I'll do a sound clip!

+1

You might indicate that on your website; it's an important distinction from many other aftermarket high-flow cats out there.

rotarydude07 02-07-2013 10:22 AM

what is "your projected" estimate on the longevity of the cat before failing?

and what about CEL any possible problems from the O2?

amhorach 03-26-2013 11:18 PM

What is the diameter of the pipe at the flange vs. near the cat? It looks like it is pinched near the flanges.

so has anybody bought this flow cat yet?

Jvswan 02-19-2015 08:12 AM

This thread is kind of old, but thought I'd mention that I bought this pipe and installed it last weekend. I bought it because my stock cat was rattling and I had the P0420 CEL issue.

Removal of the old cat pipe was a freakin' nightmare. I ended up cutting the three forward bolts off. Installation wasn't too difficult. The pipe requires two 3/8" 16tpi exhaust mounting studs, which are not included. Chances are you wont be able to reuse the stock studs and the stock springs were too long for me to reuse with the new studs. So, I bought a kit at Autozone that came with studs and springs. The kit is only $6 or $7 each. Not too bad. I also got new stainless steel mounting hardware for bolting the front end on. I used liberal amounts of anti-seize lubricant, too.

There were no instructions and emails to RR were not too helpful when I asked about mounting the pipe. Good luck if you want to talk to someone. I couldn't find a phone number or address anywhere. I guess they don't want to work directly with people.

The pipe sounds ok. I don't have much experience with these things. It is louder than stock. I hear it quite distinctly while I drive. It does have a lower tone than stock, but it is a bit raspy or reedy sounding under acceleration. Idle sounds ok, though.

Unfortunately I got the CEL back almost immediately. I had it cleared at Autozone and it was back on within about 50 miles. Which sucks because that is the whole point of wanting to get a cat pipe instead of a decent mid pipe. Not sure what I'll do now.

That sucks that you got a check light after the install have you gotten in touch with RR to find out why

Jvswan 02-22-2015 12:15 PM

Not yet. I wanted to go by Autozone to confirm the code. It could be a different code, but I doubt it. I've been looking through the forum and I'm wondering if the code comes up because the O2 sensor is placed in the pipe before the cat, sort of like a catless mid-pipe. In the stock configuration the O2 sensor is mounted to the cat. Could that be the issue? The O2 sensor coming before the cat instead of after?

TeamRX8 02-23-2015 04:08 PM

Should have done your research. That cat is known not to last on a rotary engine, though the issue is that it mechanically fails (telescopes and blows out from the heat). I wasn't aware that RR was even still in business any more .... also any midpipe without a resonator will be raspy for sure

.

TeamRX8 07-20-2015 02:41 PM

Hopefully nobody else buys one of these. The cat is installed at the wrong end of the midpipe after the rear O2 bung. It will never pass emissions like this ...
