Used 2004 55k miles

First off I've read the new owners thread.

Yes, I plan on getting a compression test done.

Just looking for some input on if this would be a good purchase if the comp. test checks out.

It's a 2004 Touring, 6 speed M/T. Buying from a certified Mazda dealership.

Price is $10,500.

Comes with 3 year oil changes, 6 month tire/battery/brake replacement.

Carfax checks out, same with maintenance records.

Any thoughts?

Try to get the price down. I have a 2004 MT and in 2009 a dealer valued my car at $9,500. The car back then had 57,000 miles. So a 2004 with 55k miles in 2012 should not have costed the dealer more than $8,000. If compression checks out and everything is up to date (starter, ignition, cat, etc.) I would start negotiating. Something less than $10,000 would be a better deal.

If everything checks out good, then you could negotiate the price a little lower, good luck.

Price should be lower. If you are going to spend 10.5k, buy a 2006-2008 that still has a powertrain warranty. Mine went up in August which was just a few weeks before purchasing it lol.

Yea a bit expensive. Try to lower it down to maybe $8k? But 8 years worth of oil change for free? That sounds awesome.

UK

I paid £3,300 for a 2006 with 48,500 miles on the clock... UK, so not sure how this really translates to USA? Really not a lot to look for apart from nice service history.

Price is too high IMO unless engine was recently replaced and everything runs flawlessly. Otherwise, You can find better bang for your buck on craigslist or E-Bay.
