San Diego Area Deposits

What's up group? I'm new, but I've been lurking for awhile now. Just thought I'd post some info on deposits for San Diego.

Cush Mazda in Escondido will accept a $1000 deposit and will guarentee MSRP. They couldn't do any better than the typical "summer of '03" for a release date though (didn't really expect much).

You're too late if you're hoping to be the first to make a deposit though. That title goes to me!!!! :D :p :D

I just got back from John Hine Mazda and placed an order for a black/black 6spd with touring package. $500 refundable deposit and MSRP. Apparently I was only the 2nd one to put a deposit down so I'll be in the first allocation (they get 7 cars). They also mentioned that Mazda told them the first cars will be ready in April. Hopefully that will be the case.

I also got a chance to sit in the 6. The sports package looks really nice and so does the interior. I'm hoping the 8's interior will be as nice (some of the recent pics from the LA show aren't too reassuring). The leather seats prompted me to rethink my decision to go with cloth on the RX-8. Has anyone seen the cloth seats? I haven't seen any pics of them.

By the way, this is my first post. All the info I learned here was very helpful in my decision to get the RX-8. Thanks...

Hey mp5 which salesman did you talk to. I talked to Donal when I was there for the 6 unveiling. We took that puppy and ran it hard that night. hehe! I can say I was the first person to Test Drive the 6 in San Diego. We took it out when everyone was busy listening to the lady talking about the car.

But yeah I'm curious to know who you talked to and out of the 7 cars that are coming did you know if any of them were coming with a nav?

I talked to Eladio (sales manager) and Dante (salesman) who's only been there for 3 weeks.

I don't know if any of the 7 cars will have nav, but I've read here that it won't be available till later shipments. All I know is that one of the other cars coming in is a black grand touring.

OK so here's the breakdown of who's got what:

Hine has RX-8s
Cush has RX-8s
Irvine has RX-8s
Browning has RX-8s
Tustin has RX-8s
El Cajon Mazda --NO RX-8's...still blaming Mazda Corporate, California emmisions, brightness of the sun: whatever.

Anybody order from Westcott or know if they got any in yet?

Norats, did you actually talk to somebody at Cush? I called them this morning and was told that they aren't in yet....
