Question...

If you guys haven't seen the pictures I posted of my wreck, well... too bad. But my back bumper has a hole punched in it basically and my muffler is bent. The insurance company and multiple body shops have said that I need a new muffler. For a new muffler, it'll be around 700$. Now I can get a discount on this repair but I already have the check from the insurance company. So if there would be money left over from the check, could I just tell the body shop to put in say, a Borla exhaust, instead of just a new muffler? And also, if the insurance check doesn't cover all of it, can I just pay the difference so I can still have a Borla exhaust? It seems like the most opportune time to get one. These might be dumb questions, but I want to make sure that I can or cannot get a Borla exhaust.

I searched all over this forum last night and found a Borla exhaust brand new for the same price as they want for just the muffler replacement at the shop. Thanks for your answers guys and if you're interested in the exhaust I think this is the link: http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/borlarx8.htm

The insurance pays you for the damage, they don't buy you the parts. You can choose not to repair if you want and take the money and run. In other words, you can take the money they give you for the exhaust and use it to get what ever you want (you may need to pay a little bit if the after market exhaust is more than the stock)...just make sure to let the body shop know your plans.
